Need help with pickups on a strat
I still have some trouble understanding how different pickups can change the voice of your guitar. I'm currently looking at a guitar(solid body electric) that has 2 single and 1 humbucker pickups. I'm more interested in blues, rock n roll, and metal. Would this guitar work for me, or should I go for a double humbucker guitar (I'm looking at a Squier Standard Fat Strat and Double Fat Strat). I was told this site was the place to go to ask this, thank you for all your help.

My two cents: before spending any money, I would try to figure out exactly what you're looking for. If you have a good music store nearby, I would recommend taking some time to try a whole bunch of different guitars with different pickups. Maybe go during a less busy time (perhaps sneaking out on your lunch hour on a weekday). At the end of the day, your ears will guide you, but until you "hear" what you're looking for, I would hesitate to drop a lot of coin.
Good luck! |
