Hwy 1 Texas Tele neck PU replacement
Hi all,
My 2004 Hwy 1 Texas Tele neck pickup just went south on me. Any suggestions for a replacement? Anyone know where I can get the same pickup from an online retailer? I've done a search, but all I know is that it was a Hot Vintage pickup, and don't see any to replace it. Am interested in trying something new too. Like a nice warm neck pickup and didn't mind the original which was a little hot. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. |

How did it go out? I.e. did it just die or did you accidently spill a mai-tai into it or something?
I don't know exactly what Fender says about replacing stuff, but if you have the original bought new receipt you can probably get a replacement out of them. If you narf'd it then I think you're stuck with Ebay or looking for something else. I had a local guy here in MSP wind me a neck pickup for my TX Tele and I like it very much. I hear really good things about Bill Lawerence's, Fralin, Lollar, Duncan, Kinman. There are LOTS of good pickups around.

I agree with SMPTE. Try Fender and see what info they can give you on what is the neck p-up.
If not go with an aftermarket. Bill Lawrence and Lollar seem to be the optimum replacement for a Texas Telecaster, among others. Last edited by Rumblebones; July 7th, 2009 at 01:51 AM. |

Thanks for the info guys.
Yeah, I was having a really good time and of course it resulted in a pickup casualty. I know there's lots of options out there for pickups and appreciate the input. I was thinking a Don Mare option or something from Lollar. |

It's a 2004. I contacted Fender and they sent me the part number and where I could buy it. Fender has always been great to deal with. I just emailed the question to the general customer service dept. and couple hours later got the info. |

Took the neck PU out in the meantime.
What the hell......!! She sounds great. Great sustain, when there was none and the bridge pickup sounds better plus feels like more usable tones with the tone knob now. I must be imagining things. Is this what all that Esquire talk is about. |

Music Parts Guru was the recommended supplier by Fender when I asked for the part number, but Music Parts never responded to my email. Didn't know they were an Ebay seller. Thanks you again, that was very helpful for me. |
