What should a Barden neck PU read out ???

Hi folks....I am trying to determine what a Joe Barden neck pickup should read on an ohms meter ??? I have checked several pickups and they r reading in the 7-9k range which seems normal but this Barden neck pickup is only reading out at 4.25k ?? Is this normal ??

Yes. They have a lower DC resistance than standard pickups. I seem to remember my Barden neck pup read lower than 4k, like between 3.5k and 4k, but it was several years ago, so I don't remember exactly.

These pups are a perfect example of how DC resistance by itself is no predictor of output. Bardens have tons of output, but at a very low DC resistance. However, this also makes them difficult to match up with other manufacturer's pickups. They play best with other Bardens, but not with other makers.

i was always confused how they made bardens are they wired in series or parrallel stock? the low DC makes me think that they are similar to other rail pickups just wired in parallel for a single coil sound

Maybe they use thicker wire? And the strong magnets making the bigger part of the output? Just guessing.
