PAF experts...HELP !!!!
ok...i have a pickup that i'm trying to positively identify, and maybe you can help me out ....
*its definitely Gibson... *has the PAF block letter decal, clear outline w/no green *braided lead *black paper tape around the coils *definitely has the "purple" wire visable in the "holes" *slug bobbins "hole" seems to be "slightly" larger than bottom *wood "spacer" underneath coil ok...obviously this all points to PAF...but this pickup is in such insanely good condition that its hard to believe that it could be a real one....i know that the wax potting probably helped preserve it, but this thing is darn near NEW shape !!! the PAF sticker is a bit torn, but even the cover looks shiny and "near new" !!! the other thing thats wierd is that it measures a whopping 9.20 on my radio shack ohm meter !!!! this pickup was pulled out of a otherwise "all original" 1969 telecaster that i recently bought (cheap, cause the humbucker was added !!!) it seems to good to be true....anything i might be missing to clue me in if this thing is 100% correct ???? thanks !! |

I'm not an expert on PAFs
Is there any chance that it could be a Gibson '57 Classic, or maybe a '57 Classic Plus? I know that those pickups are Gibson's PAF Reissue, complete with the PAF sticker on the back. I'm not familiar with all of the other identifiers on authentic PAFs.

the pickup im wondering about is the early 80's paf reissues, but i thought those had stamped bottomes and the "PAF" sticker was in script writing, not block.... maybe i'll just take a bunch of pictures and do the "no reserve" auction thing on ebay...let everyone else figure out what it is.... |
