String Pull

Hello

How do different pickup styles compare as far as string pull goes.

Using generalizations...
In a spectrum of less to more pull, could we say that Lace Sensors have the least and Strat Ceramic single coils have the most.

Where do humbuckers go in this spectrum? or Tele bridge, neck? Any oddball pickups really.
It would be nice to have a good grasp of this when planning frankenstein builds.

pickups with with rod magnets likes strats and teles will have more pull than those made with bar magnets under the bobbin. A5 has more pull than A2, which has more pull than A3. Ceramics have a lot of pull, but they are ususally under the bobbin rather than pole piece rods, so their pull is less significant.

Interesting, A3 has less pull than A2 and A5? I've really liked the AIII pickups I've played. I had it in my mind that the brighter/edgier the tone: the stronger the pull of the magnets but I guess that was wrong.

Do PAF-style humbuckers use pole magnets as well or do they have an Alnico bar under the poles? How much pull do these put on the strings?

+1.

the humbuckers have bars and they have much less pull than rod equipped pups. very hot humbuckers might not cause 'stratitis' but they can suffer in tone when they are set very close to the strings.

The most extreme example I've had of string pull was when I had three Filtertrons in one guitar. I would always get a warbling/chorusy sound, and eventually just took them out. I suspect that having three Filtertrons in one guitar is just too much.

P-90s have pretty low pull, part of the LPJ sound.
