RIP Twisted Tele. You Were A Good Pickup.
Tuesday was a sad day for my Baja Tele.
My Twisted Tele pickup just up and died. Luckily, my guitar guy had a sweet vintage Fender pup lying around that he "just threw in there." I'll miss you, Twisted Tele pickup... wherever you are! By the by... the new Fender pup that got dropped in its place? Nice! Just wondering though - anyone else had any Fender neck pup or Twisted Tele pup issues like that? Oh... and my Blackguard Book arrived in the post today! |

I had a neck p-up die once. An orig. Fender stock.
Totally my fault tho..... guitar fell face first out of a stand. Tele didn't even go out of tune, but I had an Esquire for the rest of the night. |

I still don't understand the phenomenon of guitar pickups just "dying".
Been playing for 16+ years, and NEVER had a pickup die on me. I can understand a vintage, non-potted pickup that gets years of sweat on it that ruins the coils, but a relatively new, wax potted, COVERED pickup? Very Strange.

Had an OV neck pup that gave it up one night. Replaced it with a Dimarzio Area T. Happy with the replacement - sweet tone and no hum.

Yeah... my guitar guy checked every connection point right up to getting inside the pup. Once we realized the problem was inside, I opted to swap it out for the vintage pup he had in the shop.
Truly weird... the Twisted Tele pup was fully functional one night and dead as Dillinger the next afternoon without ever leaving my sight. Well... except while I was sleeping. Gremlins maybe? |

I don't understand it either, but it's happened to me. Twice. No explanation -- nothing fell, nothing got spilled, just suddenly -- nada.
