using my handle JohnK24 as member. I've posted several times about the set I've had in my tele since late January.
Still in the guitar. JK

Ho..theres still a thread open about these p-ups...if you like the older 10K Fender nocaster pickups...you should like the TS...I don't hear much difference between the two ...I'm talking about the bridge unit...don't know much about the neck p-ups...I reckon they're pretty good too....one thing about higher output p-ups is the way they drive an amp...especially a good attribute if you play in a band....everything in the signal chain seems more *alive*....anyway, they're very toneful telecaster p-ups IMO of course...later, spyder

No Soul
I had the Texas Specials in my CS Strat and soon removed them. They were balanced but were noisy and had zero mojo. I replaced them with Lace Holy Grails and have been in strato heaven ever since.

I gotta go with frogger on this one. I've been toying with the set that came in my Nasville Deluxe (before I ripped the neck and middle out) and I was greatly underwhelmed. The bridge pickup is overall balanced, but is pretty loose on the bottom end - possibly just a little too much bass into my amp. The thing is, there's just no chime, or bite, or cut, or anything to make it stand out. It sounds hot, and it does drive the input of my Marshall, but even so, it doesn't sound like something that could be used for lead playing.
All this is under moderate gain mind you, which is how I play. I tried it briefly clean, 'cause you have to do that with a Tele, and I wasn't really blown away by that either. I've got a SD Quarter Pounder coming any day. I don't know what I'm going to do with the Texas Specials. Maybe swap 'em on the Garage Sale or something.

A lot of people, including me, love the neck TX Spcl for its "smokey" and smooth tone, and it's a great blues and lite-jazz pickup. It has output almost like a P-90, but it also still has the metallic "plink" of the typical covered Tele neck. When I assembled my favorite Tele five years ago, I had planned to put in the the Texas set, give it a quick listen, then replace the neck with a humbucker. Today the Texas neck is still there, and the bridge pup is long gone! (I like the Fender Nocaster bridge.)

Oooh. They do indeed. They're different. I just didn't get the memo. Disreguard previous blathering.
