Wiring ideas for a 5 way switch
I've decided to change the wiring of my 7 string tele in favor of a more versatile one.
I will use a 5 way super switch and I'll add 2 more position to the standard ones:
![]() do you have observations or ideas? Have you sniped some errors in the wiring? |

very interesting and nice schematic, thanx!
I have two vol controls on my Tele, so when out of phase I can lower the bridge pu and get back some lows. But I want to try that other way (filtering lows of the inverted pup so they are not substracted from the other pup resulting in a sound with more body but still out of phase) Details of my Tele on my Flicker gallery 1st and 2nd pictures have controls details I invert the phase of the bridge pup though. I send the plate to ground along with strings etc. but separated from signal ground. So the bridge pup plate is always to ground no mater if it's inverted or not. I thought it was dangerous to separate the ground of a Tele neck pup cover because it's sort of delicate... Also, I'll be building a new one based on a white blonde body I just got on ePay. you discarded series/controlled out of phase, not so interesting for you? In series, the out of phase setting only work if I use the neck pu in normal humbucker mode (I have a Seth Lover in my neck now) so I wonder what were your results w/ single coils in serie and controlled o-o-p Last edited by fernando; September 18th, 2009 at 10:31 AM. |

and nice cat :) Quote:
Details of my tele I may add that I put a push pull pot for volume and what it does is basically leaving the tone circuit out. it's awesome: it gives me an esquire sound in the bridge and it allows me to have a better sound with the series (that else with 2 250k pots is limited, now it's brighter and with a little more bite) Quote:
But Imo the result should be kind of similar to a humbucker in middle position. |

another option would be to install a Q-filter (from Bill Lawrence, or similar) as an option on the tone pot (push-pull to select traditional capacitor or Q-filter)
This way you can alter the series sound (or any other) OK, and maybe another push pull on the vol pot to disengage any of the tone options when in series (or in any other combination) as you are doing on your series mode |
