Filtertron in my tele?
Hey I was wondering about putting a filtertron hot rod pup in my tele(neck position). Will it be a step up from the stock pup(which I can't stand)? If anyone has used these pickups before let me know what you think of them.

I'm routed for a humbucker in the neck already. I'm assuming I attach it the same way as a humbucker, yeah?

I know TV Jones filtertrons have a variety of mounting options, including humbucker style "ears" for mounting to the pickguard or a mounting ring. Not so sure about the Gretsch Hot Rods -- the only ones I've seen look like they screw directly into the body. |

I'd go for the TV Jones Filtertron. More options and by all accounts superior to the Gretsch pickup. If you're wondering which Filtertron is in Mojo's Tele, email him. He's a member here, or email him from his site, mojocaster.com

Can I still use a humbucking pickguard?

yeah, you might want to check out the humbucker mounting option. I think it's called "em1" or something like that. Regular filters mount differently. If you want to install it like a regular humbucker, get that mount, with the humbucker mounting tabs.
Call TV up. Someone else will answer, but if you have an tech related questions, TV will call you back personally and give you recommendations. -Nicest guy in the world. |
