Baja Tele pups...what are they ?
Checked out the spec for the Baja Tele on Fender's website, trying to find out what type of pick ups are used on that model.
They don't mention that they're Alnico....so are these Teles really fitted with cheapo pick ups?? |

These pickups have plastic insulation. Every CS guitar I've looked over has cloth insulation.
I surmise that when Dennis went down there from the CS, he brought everything needed to get the workers in Ensenada making quality, lesser cost copies of the Twisted Tele and Broadcaster pickups from the Custom Shop catalog. With the spaghetti of wires on the 6 pickup combo/S-1 I really don't think cloth wire would've fit in a Baja, anyway. But they sound every bit as good as the Corona pickups; better than a few models, in fact. I dunno what they cost to make but they sure don't sound cheap to me.

Oh thats brilliant news, thanks guys.
I'm really happy with the sound she's giving so thought they couldn't be all that bad but it's good to know they aren't actually 'cheapies'. Again my thanks for the prompt answers. |
