Twang King neck + Vintage '54 bridge

hello. longtime lurker coming out of lurker mode for a while...

I'm ordering a dimarzio twang king neck and sd vintage '54 bridge pups to go into my '62ri. i've got a few questions:

- i'm going for a brighter late 50s to 60s sound for this guitar (in contrast to my '52ri with an antiquity I set), will this pickup combo get me there?
- has anyone had any experience installing dimarzio and duncan pickups on a tele? do i have to swap wires on the twang king to avoid wiring them out of phase in position 2?

thanks in advance!

If you have to reverse the wires on the Twang King (you will be able to hear the honky sound if pickups are out of phase), it should not be a problem. You will not need to disconnect a ground link at the rear of the pickup as the Twang King already comes with a separate cover grounding lead for use in the 4-way switch mod.

I have a twang king neck with a SD broadcaster in lead, wired up normal and works perfect, and sounds great.

I had the exact combo you're ordering. It is a bright, snappy set of pickups, especially the Twang King. Definitely not 'honky' blackguard sounding.

Have that set in a '90 MIM, w/ Fender vintage bridge and threaded steel saddles. Can't remember whether wires reversed. Nice and twangy, classic tele, and the TK neck can get strat like too. Good set up.
