Neck pickup location

Guys,
I have swapped several pickups in the neck location of my H-S-S Samick Blues Sareceno TV-20.
Today's Bill Lawrence L-45 was the best yet. However I finally noticed after laying a strat PG over the guitar that the neck pup is about 1/8 to 3/16" too far towards the bridge compared to a strat.
Can anyone tell me just how much difference this makes? Should I get out the router?

I wouldn't - if it sounds good - don't fix it if it ain't broke.

1/8" isn't going to make that much of a difference - especially since the TV-20 isn't a stratocaster. I would just go with the flow here myself.

Well, it's pretty close to a strat construction wide. It has a 25.5" scale and a strat type tremelo. The guitar has the pickups screwed into the wood which I detest. I currently have the pickup "temporarily" mounted in a SC sized mounting ring. I can slide the pickup back and forth a little within the confines of the factory route. It sounds best the farthest towards the neck it will go. I might break out the router after all.....

I think the main reason people don't go higher is aesthetics. And not wanting to compromise the rear portion of the neck rout. Go thin enough and that wafer of wood will split free and get dislodged.
