Twisted tele pickup wiring

hello folks

ive just completed a trade and in return im getting a custom shop twisted telecaster pickup with the cloth wiring .

i have a fender nocaster and i plan on replacing the neck pickup with the twisted tele version and keeping the bidge pickup as is . ive recently changed the wiring to the modern three way which i do prefer .

any folks who have done this modification im looking for a good wiring diagram for this setup with the stock three way switch . i suppose i could just very well replace this pickup and use the wiring set up i currently have but thought i would pose the question .

thoughts are welcome and appreciated

The green is just a separate wire for grounding the cover so the black (-) and yellow (+) can go to a 4 way switch for the series/parallel option.

In your case the black AND green would go to ground and the yellow to the switch naturally where the white Nocaster wire was.

Your welcome

If you ever get a chance to put in a 4 way, they sound pretty good in series !!

curious what you are using as far as your pickup combination and which guitar and i guess your wiring is setup for the four way switch .

ive got the nocaster and keeping the bridge pickup in place and will as said be putting the custom shop cloth wired twisted tele pickup in the neck position .

ive heard the 58 relic custom shop with the twisted tele pickup which has the nocaster bridge pickup not the broadcaster as fender stated early on and was impressed with the sound so im achieving the same tone with what ive planned i guess for the most part .

between me you and a lampost im still curious to what the wiring looks like for that custom shop 58 heavy relic and what the cap is rated at under the hood .

I have one Tele with CS Texas Specials and the 4 way. If you want to have some more punch and growl ( really nice when setting the amp a little dirty) the series position really delivers ( for single coils!). It is wired just like the diagram that comes with the switch from Fender.

http://www.blueguitar.org/new/schem/_gtr/tele4way.jpg

If you would want to keep your 3 way it is easy to wire up a push/pull pot
( and that's cheaper than buying a 4 w switch) too. You already have a 3 wire pup and I would HIGHLY suggest it, as I think you'll like what it adds to the tone options of the guitar.

My other Tele is a Ash body with Nocasters, wired like a original Nocaster
(dark curcuit & blend pot) and I added a cover wire to the neck pup and wired it up to a push/pull tone pot so I can put them in series as well. VERY nice sounding these Nocasters.

I say your making a good decision leaving the Nocaster bridge in there. I have a Nashville Tele too and I put Original '52 Vintage pups in and they sound real nice ( the 'ol TWANG!) BUT, Now that I have them both if I had to pick one it would be the Nocasters !

I've had the Tex-Mex too so other than that it would be interesting to hear the Twisted pup.

Hey there, I have a "twisted" tele neck pup from fender's custom shop. Just thought you might want to know, It is designed to sound like a strat pickup by raising the hieght of the whole thing and changing the material of the cover, it sounds better than the pickup in my americain deluxe strat!

well todays the day got some time on my hands so i will be installing that twisted tele pickup in the nocaster and i was thinking of getting a broadcaster bridge p.c. but will keep the existing bridge in place so we will see what it sounds like with modern wiring three way and of course lux wax caps with 50s specs .

i also have another nocaster that ive converted to an esquire and kept the nocaster bridge in place and ive contemplated from time to time replacing that p.c. for another that has more snarl and sting but thats risky as i dont have much experience with other manufactured pickups so thats kinda rolling the dice .

here is the s.d.

http://www.seymourduncan.com/product...953_tapped_jb/

ive heard good things about the s. d. p.c. maybe thats the lucky 7 im looking for .

g6120 I had a Duncan Custom Shop Tapped bridge (Jeff Beck). Very nice pickup, but if you want more growl and snarl that would not be my choice. I would call Don Mare and tell him what you want to achieve. That Duncan Bridge bridge is going to run you at least $200. I sold mine used here on the TDPRI for $150. Call Don he will tailor make you one.

i was told you must place a order for the s. d. pickup which ive decided to do for my esquire
53 Style Tapped JB for Tele®
Application: Telecaster® or Esquire® bridge position with custom wiring

finished this afternoon installing the twist tele pickup in my nocaster and im very pleased with the way that guitar sounds so if anyones on the fence go ahead get one its well worth it .

I'll second the good sound of a twisted tele neck pup

got mine in my baja tele and sounds great in both series and paralell (and in out of phase too )

Enjoy

Be cool
