New humbuckers for Hagstrom Viking
I tried out a Hagstrom HJ-500 jazz guitar today... I've been thinking of getting a Viking, but in the absence of these in Glasgow, I tried what I could find. I quite liked the guitar, but the pickups seemed fairly average, and they are the same ones on the Viking. As lifelong Fender player, with little knowledge of 'buckers, I could use some advice on a decent pair of replacement pickups for this guitar.
One thing though - I really don't like the look of exposed humbuckers (ie the ones that look like 2 single coils together), so I'd be wanting something with metal covers. |

I put Seymour Duncan Phat Cat in the bridge of an old Swede. Worked well, more rock'n roll.
Oh yes, I just saw some cheap humbucker sized p-90's in Axesrus' bargain box today, around 9 £. I guess they're Wilkinsons but I'm not sure. http://www.axesrus.com/AXEBASE.htm
