replacement pickups for a 3-pickup Dano: a question
Hi
I have a Dano DC-3 (I think that's what it's called - it's the double cutaway with "blow switch" and glittery finish). I saw these GFS pickups http://store.guitarfetish.com/protudfidagu.html and thought about getting them to upgrade it. However, I'm puzzled: would the p/up in the mid position be a bridge or neck p/up (ie which of those 2 p/ups' values would suit mid position best)? Thanks for any advice, Iain |

-If you go to the bottom of the page, there's a drop down box that shows you the different windings. The 4.6K is the neck, the 6K RW/RP is the mid, and the 8K is the bridge. Or you could email Jay who runs GFS and he can let you know for sure. He's pretty good about returning emails and helping with questions. Btw, I love those Danos. I could have kicked myself for not picking one of them up. Those are the Danos that were out around 10 yrs ago, right? Mmmm, silver sparkle...............

Thanks for the reply. I should have been clearer: what confused me is that the GFS site says "We like the big 8K bridge pickup with a matching 6K RW/RP neck pickup" hence my wondering (if I were to get those p/ups for neck/bridge positions) which of those 2 would sit better in the middle as the 3rd p/up.
I like the idea of putting gutsier p/ups into the guitar, anyway, basically. Yes, it's one of the Danos you refer to. Inherited it from a friend who was in a car accident so want to make sure I play it out at gigs. I'll try emailing GFS, as you suggest, too. Thanks again, Iain |
