GFS "calibrated" set question
http://store.guitarfetish.com/casetof3lilk1.html
In this calibrated set the neck pickup us weaker than the middle pup. Shouldn't it be instead: # Neck Pickup is 10 K # Middle Pickup is 6 K # Bridge Pickup is 15 K That seems to be the case with Seymor DUncan and DiMarzio sets. You think that is a typo? On purpose? Wrong? |

the pickup at the neck would be the lowest ohms bridge is the highest. reason is because the strings vibrate more closer at the neck then the bridge, thus making the neck pickup naturally louder.

Seymour Duncan recommends e.g. a Hot Rail in the bridge, a cool rail in the neck and a vintage rail in the middle for a balanced set.
The vintage rail in the middle is the weakest. This makes sense to me as the neck and bridge by themselves are used most, and the middle would only be used mainly in the 2 and 4 position. This would balance the 1, 2, 4 and 5 position and make a compromise on the 3 position. As recommended by GFS all positions would be out of balance I'd think. A 16 k bridge balances well with a 10 k neck, but not with a 6 k neck etc. |

wow. The middle position on a strat is one of my favorite... And I don't notice a volume change on the 2/4 positions. Hmm... I would not compromise the 3 position for the 2/4.
