The Search for That Sound Goes On!
I am on what may be a neverending quest for " that sound". I know the Tele is the only guitar for me, but getting the right sound has been a real work in progress. Here is a list of pickups I am currently using. I am trying for a sort of Rolling Stones meets AC/DC sound for one Tele, a very vintage 52' type tone for another and a Keef tone for one. I am playing thru a DRRI with a Keeley Time Machine for fuzz / overdrive.
1)Thinline 72' RI - Seymour Duncan Antiquity in Bridge and Fender Widerange Humbucker in neck. This is really close to the sound I have been wanting. 2) MIM Standard - Fender Texas Specials in bridge and neck. Kinda muddy sounding. Pretty good for ZZ Top. I am changing these out for a set of Fender Vintage Originals in the next week. 3) CIJ with Bigsby - Curtis Novak Vintage in neck and bridge. I am just putting these pickups in today. I have very high hopes for these 4) 50's Vibe Tele - All stock. Sound is very nice so far. 5) Squire Standard - Fender 52' RI in bridge and Seymour Duncan 59' humbucker in neck. As close to Open G Keef as I have come. 6) MIM Standard - Seymour Duncan Jerry Donahue in bridge in and Seymour Duncan Vintage Mini Humbucker in neck. I think this combo should be very intersting. I feel this may be a real twang monster. So what do you think, am I crazy or is this normal? |

That CIJ with Novaks is gonna sound great! I've got a set in my 52RI...As far as everything else you could probably narrow it down to 1 more maybe a set of Nocasters or something for that Keefness.
AC/DC you need an SG....So 2 teles and 1 sg.
