new, hotter bridge
I would like to change the bridge pickup in my 52 so I can achieve a little hotter sound, possibly even modifying the wiring to get closer to the sounds I have links for below. I've heard good things about SD's broadcaster and BG1400 pickups, as well as Rio Grande Muy Grandes. I rarely need the super twangy sound, but as you can tell in the links, it still sounds like a tele/esquire. I know the sounds I like below are wired as esquires, so I may do that as well, but what are your thoughts on the pickups themselves? The BG1400 that Billy Gibbons plays at the NAMM show (also below) seems to be a little too hot -- again, I like the other two links much better. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance for the info.

I just can tell you about the Duncan, in my case it was more trebly than the 52RI, which was a bit disappointing because I expected the opposite based on the info I had gathered. It was closer to what I assume the vintage 54 should be...

I can highly recommend a DiMarzio PRE-B1. It still has that Tele edge, but is not as trebely as a stock Esquire pickup. It'll really drive an amp. It's got about as much output as a P-90.
