twisted tele pickup

So what's up with this new tele neck pickup from Fender. I know it's in some custom shop models.
Has anyone played one? I saw a post somewhere else that said it was kinda of a rebadged strat coil underneath the cover....but that's just a rumor until proven.

Twisted Tele pickup (Alan Hamel)

Alan Hamel created this "Twisted Neck" pickup while he was at the Fender CS. It is taller, uses different magnets and wire than a conventional Tele neck pup.

Alan also makes these and calls it the "Hamel Tall Neck", I have one in my '65 Tele along with his standard Hamel bridge pickup. These are really nice sounding, kind of a cross between a Strat neck and a mini bucker sound.. with a 4-way switch you can sure get a bunch of different tones!

Hope this helps, Ron
