Well, I'm learning...
Decided I liked the look of no cover on my neck pup on my Squier Affinity BS Blond Tele. In the process I nicked the pickup and tore thru a few strands of windings. As luck has it I'm set to trade this guitar today and no stores around have a cheap replacement pup.
Does anyone know if I could borrow from my Squier '51 the neck pup? I thought it was Tele-sized but it very well could be Strat-sized. The '51 is at home a few miles away and wanted to inquire before making the trip. Thanks for any suggestions. Dan

The 51 neck pup is strat sized, so it won't fit without some routing. Lot's of low cost options for neck pups. Check out Tonerider & GFS. Also, the classified section here is an excellent resource for trying different pickups at a reduced price. Right now, my pickup stash has dwindled....but, If I had a spare, I'd send one to ya! Good luck.

Aw, thanks man.
I think it is a sign from above to not go through with this trade (Tele and chunk o' cash for an Epiphone Blues 30 Amp). I'm gonna hit Ebay in hopes of a cheap replacement and get back to unwinding this sucker.

If you're gonna keep the guitar now, for $32.95 plus mailing you can get a Fatbody neck pickup from GFS (www.guitarfetish.com). Uncovered and a great pickup by any standards. Who knows, you may even be tempted to go for the matching bridge pickup, available in a 7K-ish regular wind or around 10K overwound. Lots of love for those here on the forum.

Those amps are absolutely terrible. I had to play a show with one of those and andother smaller epi tube.
Don't do it.

Like the VJ, I hear it is not plug and play - you have to really get a feel for the amp and work at the settings. One day perhaps

Maybe I'm spoiled with the amps I've had and the ones I use at rehearsal, but the bigger Epiphone amps do not impress me, they just seem colorless, and they also seem pretty quiet. I've also used one of these Blues combos at a blues jam and was disappointed. Also, online reviews don't mean much of anything. The people that adore Epiphone amps are probably all 12 and have never owned another tube amp. However, I respect the opinion of any tdpri user that likes them, as everyone here is pretty classy
