What would Jebus buy?
After my first try with some used Fender pups (that weren't good) I've read alot of what people said on here and it's narrowed my choice down to 3 brands.
Keystone by Bill Lawrence Tonerider Vintage for neck and bridge GFS vintage for neck and bridge So if Jebus were on a budget, what would he pick for the most bang for the $? I have seen the prices for the Keystones in reviews, but nothing on an actual web page yet. Any price links would be appreciated! |

Wow, I'm kinda surprised the GFS is doing so badly on this poll.
Mr. George Carlin reminds us that it makes no sense for ( a certain deity ) to Love America. Why wouldn't He love every nation? However, if that were so, how come US appears in jebUS' name? It doesn't matter. jebus is a smart guy, and he knows a superior product (Keystone) when he sees one.

Jebus love America because he is obviously a football fan...Redskins in particular.
I voted for the Toneriders because I have them and they are very good pickups. Their best feature for me is the neck pup. Nice and clear sounding--not muffled at all. I think all three options are good. "Hail to the Cheap!" |

I haven't tried any of the three myself, but have researched some of them. I get my pickups from an endorsement, so I am biased. They are within a simular price range as the ones mentioned, but can only be gotten from one distributor on Ebay. I won't try to pitch them here, so from the three mentioned, I wouold want to try the Toneriders first from what I've heard.

I've never tried the Toneriders, but I've tried the GFS repros, and the Keystones blow them away (for me, anyway).

If I were on a budget I'd keep the stock pups. I'm really starting to appreciate stock pups alot more. After trying just about every after market pup going over the last 27 years I'm of the opinion they don't make a whole lot of difference. Every time I've ever got hyped over the latest greatest pup I get let down. I might think its great for a while but soon realize they weren't really any better then stock and in some ways not as good. If you buy a guitar that you didn't like the sound of you should have bought another guitar. That being said I do like my Kinmans for having noiseless when needed but my AV52RI will be keeping the stock pups. They sound amazing and it fits my budget.
I have plans to purchase a Les Paul soon and I'll also keep stock.
