Deciding on a neck pickup...decisions, decisions.
Hey everyone,
So I've done my research & narrowed down my choices to a Fralin Twangmaster, HD Z90, & a Fralin P-92. And that is about as far as I have gotten. Here's the guitar in question: ![]() ![]() I'd be willing to take a chance on any of these pickups based on their reviews & raves alone, being that I've only heard a recording of the P-92. I'm wondering which will best nail the single coil sound with the guitar's maple neck & alder body. Also, should I take the 7.25" radius into consideration? I'm very into the idea of having a fat, clear strat sound in the neck w/the TM, & keeping the guitar as Fender as possible. But then again, P92 in the neck, or Z90. I keep on changing my mind. Just did again. It's madness really. |

Another thing to keep in consideration is the output of the Z90, those things will overpower most stock tele bridge pickups. I've said before that the only thing that can keep up with a Z90 is another Z90, in terms of output, clarity and punch (not in the overwound-bucker sense)
If you can get a low-wind Fralin I'd consider that option instead. I'm thinking of getting a Z90 neck again (sold the ond I had) but only to go under the pickguard ala stealth esquire. |
