Keystones vs. Twang Kings
Just wondering if anyone has experience with both the Keystones and Twang Kings and can give me some insights as far as differences in sound between each set.
Thanks a lot, Charles |

I think you've already heard my opinion on the bridge pups, but I'll expand.
While I think the Keystone bridge is more versatile than the TK and more "adjustable" (pup height, volume, tone), I found it a bit too warm in contrast to the neck. The TK sounded a bit more clucky and traditional to my ears, while still adding some warmth and smoothness compared to other traditional bridge pups. The Keystone neck is superb and very stratty of that's what you're looking for. Haven't tried the TK neck, but I've heard it's very good and also a bit stratty, but probably not as much as the Keystone. You can mix and match them, I found that the TK bridge and Keystone neck match up very well sonically and volume-wise. |

Howdy,
I'm a Twang King guy. They make my USACG Mahogany Tele come alive through my little '68 Vibro Champ. The overdrive tone is close to Keef's from "Get yer Ya-Ya's Out". Through my red knob Twin it's useful for Buck Owens tones. Eggman |

I don't have a set of Keystones to compare to, however, I do have a Twang King neck pickup and really like it. Clear sounds and great for comping, at least for me anyhow. Actually, now that I think of it, I use it a lot for leads as well.
I think that either way you go, you are going to get a good set. Cheers, Bob
