Love Those O.V.'s

Just installed a set of Original Vintage pups in my Classic 50's, and man, oh man, such tone. The bridge is bright and twangy, without a bit of shrillness or icepicky-ness. The neck is buttery smooth. The stock pups are good, and I'm going to use them on another project, but the O.V.'s are wonderful. Going to order another set for a new Classic 50's I've got coming in. To be honest, the stock P/U's just weren't doing the job after I modded the tubes and speaker in my B.J. The O.V.'s solved the problem.

Installing OV 52's was the best thing I ever did for my MIM Standard.

They are indeed, great pickups. I have them in a 50's Classic and it's as though they were made especially for that guitar.

same goes for my american standard. the stock neck pickup could actually compete with the OV, but with the bridge there was no contest.

How hot are these PUPs? I am looking for a neck PUP to match a Li'l 59er. However, one can purchase a set of OVs off of ebay for $75-$100. I am thinking, why not buy a complete set, and if the Li'l 59er doesn't work out for me, just go completely Tele. The more I look for a neck PUP to match the Li'l 59er, the more I think about just going with Fender Tele pickups. I do agree, they are versatile and they don't cost as much as SDs or DiMarzios. I used to have a RI52, and you could play anything on that guitar.

I love mine, upgrading my '92 American Standard was the best thing I ever did. I never thought about swapping out the pickups until I got another tele with OV's installed. I'm no expert, but it's made all the difference in tone to me.

I've got 3 pairs; one in an ash Partscaster, and two in modded Am Se 60th Anniversary "Cubic Zircs" with modded vintage bridgeplates and big Warmoth Fatback necks.

I like these better through my Custom Vibrolux; less well through the Twin.

In many ways, however, these pickups say "Telecaster" like nothing else, with the possible exception of the American Series stock neck pickup.

I got a set on the bay for about $40, put 'em into a Squier Affinity BSB. What a great guitar (now).
