Chromed neck Keystone arrived !

It arrived today but I have not had a chance to fit it yet. Looks fantastic, really looks like a chrome cover. I'll let you know how it sounds once I put it in......can't wait.

Wow, I thought it was just getting out and it must've found the wormhole.

Must be first time ever a pickup was released to the public and an overseas customer got to write the first review!

Any pictures?

Much obliged.

Yes, by quite a bit. I find that to be an advantage as it minimises the screw "waffle" that you get with traditional screw lengths. I'm hopefully going to get this fitted tonight if time permits.

Bill and Becky's Strat Keystones have that same tall effect, although the Strat pup still has (just barely) exposed pole pieces.

The expose pole piece Keystone Tele is still a fairly diminutive looking pickup, although it does just barely fit through the stock pickguard opening.

Scotland, is there any evidence that that new neck pup is waxed?

Much obliged,

Yes, it looks very like the Strat Keystones with a wax potting inside the cover. I have had to very slightly enlarge the pickguard hole to accomodate the pickup though. All it needed was a scrape with a blade but it had to be done to make it fit. I'll get it wired up in the morning and let you know how it sounds.

By the looks of it, that neck pup is going to sound great.

I have Strat Keystones and I had to enlarge the pickguard holes just a tad for them to fit. I just ran some fine sandpaper around the edge a few times and kept testing until it fit.

Looking forward to your review.

Neck pup mount to body or pickguard

Hi Scotland,

Just wondering if the neck pup mounts to the body or through the pickguard?

Thanks,
DRx Hepcat

It can be fitted both ways, my particular one is mounted to the body.

Okay, I've had some time to play with the neck pickup and have to report that I really like it. It's more Tele than Strat (as it is meant to be) but by that I don't mean muddy. It has great definition. If I could find any fault with it, it is maybe just a little weak compared to the bridge, I have the bridge screwed down pretty far but the neck up high. Together they sound beautiful with that great Tele honlk in spades. Methinks both these Keystones are there to stay.
