I Just Found a REAL PAF??!!??

About 30 years ago a music shop here in LaGrange Ga closed it's doors. A buddy of mine got all of the leftovers from repair work, got what he needed and gave me the rest. This past weekend I dug deeper than usual in the box and came up with this!!! Woo Hoo....I think

There are more pics in my photo stream.

Due to it's age, I don't think that it is a repro. What do you guys think? It is dead so I have a few questions...

Try to open and fix it?
Have it rewound?
Sell it as-is as I have no need for it?
About what should I expect to get for it?

Thanks!!

Congrats on your good fortune. Just out of curiosity, why do you think it is a PAF instead of a more common Patent No. pickup? With the sticker gone, is there any way to tell for sure?

That is now my question.....How do I know? There is very little of the sticker left, not even part of a letter or number. Just a few specs of black with gold trim :-(
I have been trying to do research, but I can't find a lot of helpful info. If it is the Patent Number one...are they valuable also? I'm sure not nearly as much.

I'm almost POSITIVE it's a 1981-1983 Gibson Patent# humbucker out of a Les Paul. It's got long "arms" on the mounting plate, has a long metal shielded single conductor cable, doesn't show as much aging as the 50s/early 60s ones...

Plus, I have 3 of these and this looks like it could've come out of my '81 or '82 Les Paul customs.

No matter though, those are also great sounding pups!

Ask the members on the Les Paul forum. They will be able to tell you more than you would ever want to know about PAFs.

Judging from the cover I would guess it is a 'T' bobbin patent sticker pickup

Cool.... I'm still debating on fixing it or selling it as is. I might open it and at least peek in.
