What's a 1970 Tele neck PUP sound like?

I mean what is it supposed to sound like. What range of impedance were they and what tone did that produce, and was/is it even desirable?

I have one being rewound [another thread] and not sure if I want it original.

Sorry for reposting, but am hoping this direction may result in a better chance for the info I so desperately am seeking. ;)

I sold my sweet 71 tele last year, so the tone is still fresh in my mind. Many people hate the neck pups on 70's teles, but this one was very good. Warm, fat and articulate with an exceptional tone for blues. It clocked in around mid 6K and was one of the nest "Fender" tele neck pups I've ver heard. Hope this helps!

70 Tele rewind update

Got the PUP last week, finally got a chance to try it out tonight. The guy rewinding it had to order the correct wire to make it to original specs, which he about refused to do anything else. I wanted to do a tap and get a 6k and a 7.5k, he said not to waste the old PUP doing that, so I listened to him.

So instead of putting it in a new build, I pulled out my Fralin and put it in it's place. I guess I know what a 1970ish Tele Neck PUP sounds like now. And the Fralin is not very close to that tone.

It s way more funkified sounding, very scooped mids, and to the thin side but with good bass. It does not ring and chime like the Fralin.
But the Fralin has a 'More' tone to it, and this rewind does not. Much more robust the Fralin.

I started with the same height that the Fralin was, and it was overpowered by the Bridge PUP when used together. So I raised it higher than I usually would have and got it to 95% output of the Fralin.

Question, It is mounted in the wood, not he PG. If I put in a PG with screw adjustment holes and mounted in the PG, how would that change the character of the tone??

Thanks

If the magnet has not lost it's power over the years they sound OK.
