Spam Posts -- What to do

We employ a lot of technology to block spammers and spam bots. But spammers employ even more technology to attempt to thwart our attempts to block them. When you see a post that is obviously SPAM the thing to do is to REPORT that post. NEVER, I repeat NEVER post a response to the spammers post or thread.

Some members think if they post "go away spammer" or some such, that we'll see that and remove the spam. But NO. There are 3,000 plus new posts every day and the mods do not read them all. So, we rely on members to alert us to spam problems.

There is a red "Report" button -- it looks like this -- on every post and when you click it you'll be given a chance to explain why you are reporting the post. After you submit this form it will be sent via email all 6 mods instantly. If no one posts on a spam thread a mod can remove it very quickly and easily. If you post some anti-spam rant in the thread you more than DOUBLE the work involved in removing the spam.

You you do use the "REPORT" button, we'll take action right away -- and just so you know, we remove the spam, add the spammer to a global forum spam database, ban the spammer, search his IP addresses and where appropriate we ban the range of IP addresses used by the spammer. All this is done in an effort to make life miserable for spammers worldwide.
