2012 American Special Tele Owners Club

I did a search and only saw a Club for the 2010 American Special Tele, so I figured I'd start one for the 2012 model year. I just got mine last Saturday, and I'm in love with it!!

Yeah, I am wondering if stores don't have many of the newer serial numbers yet. I traded in an old amp that had been taking up space for it last week.

Here's a picture of my American Special. I replaced the neck with a Gibson 490R and mint pick guard. I've owned many teles, and really love the neck on the American Special.

Looks great !

What was it like putting a humbucker in the neck? Did you do it yourself? If not what did it cost? Lots of routing ? (Lots of questions) Sorry but caught between American Special and Blacktop, want a humbucker in a tele neck.

Thanks. The American special is routed for a humbucker, and I installed it myself. I had several spare pickups lying around, and I ordered the pickguard online for about $14. I choose to use the Gibson 490R because it uses an Alnico 2 magnet and has a smooth vintage tone that balances well with the American Special tele pickup.

That is great to hear. I've heard that routing was necessary. I'm glad, I'm kind of partial to American made Fenders. I have an American Special Strat that I put a JB Jr. into the bridge, sounds great.

Good luck !

Had mine for a month now. Just love everything about this guitar especially the neck. Those Texas Specials just cook in this baby.
