So do any Texas Tele fellas among us have a Tele style with a mesquite body?

Howdy! First time posting, and I actually happen to have a mesquite tele!

A buddy of mine put this together and gifted it to me. It's actually just a mesquite top, not a full body.

After reflecting on this, I seem to remember that when I first registered as a TDPRI member, there was a fellow Texas TDPRIer in Lubbock who had a Mesquitecaster. But that's been 4_ years ago, can't remember the username. Maybe he's still around and will chime in here?

Kewl! So a mesquite top. What's the rest of the body made of?

7 pieces of basswood, probably. It's far from fine craftsmanship, sad to say. It is on the list of guitars I'd like to fix with proper electronics, though it might even need a new neck.

But it was made by a friend, and therefore it does matter to me, even if I don't really consider it a player.

Those are mighty purdy. The first time I scrolled through this thread after this pic was posted, I scrolled past and then suddenly back up again. Really eye-catching, those two. Congrats!

You're apologizing for lots of pics of Telecasters?

No apologies necessary, especially when you submit pics of a pair of Cowboycasters in a thread about Texas Teles (ok, 1 of 'em is a Strat, but still...).

Anybody else sometimes feel like your posts wind up being the kiss of death for a thread?

I post here, and for about 2 weeks, nothing. I guess this is my way of bumping up this thread to see if there are any more posts/pics/stories to share.

I'll join. Texas born and bred. Plan on staying here my entire left. I have a Squier CV in BSB, an esquired MIM in midnight wine, and tele/strat cross build I built, and a tele style I built out of an idea cutting board.

Can't find a pic of the cutting board one, I'll try to find one later

Well, looking forward to that cutting board pic, then. That sounds like a Tele I wanna see. Kinda makes me think of a comment of Brad Paisley's about the Tele: it's just a cutting board and baseball bat with strings!

Still waiting on pics of the cutting board Tele. It's sounds like one I'd really like to see, too. Maybe you just need a reminder about this thread, so...

bump.

Just tuned my H1TT a half step down. Now I can jam along to Joe and Brad on Aerosmith's Rocks album, the only one tuned differently than standard A440. Why is that?

Confused? Could be. Most of the time, I take the simplest subject and try to convey, only to confuse. Sorry. Were you confused about the tuning on my guitar, or WHY I would consider "jamming" along with Aerosmith? Can anyone else here enlighten me or my fellow six string slinger here?
