Two heavily modded STL's(tele style) that are now Esquire clones with full vintage style hardware and two SST's (strat style) with new nuts, GFS saddles, and new pickguards - one white and the other powder blue.
Very inexpensive but fun guitars. My 2 SST's have very minor and inexpensive mods and stock electronics but with careful setup are very good players. And, the stock pickups have a nice vintagy strat sound that I really like. The only downside is they get harsh if overdriven much........up to that point nice and chimey and clear.

I started out with a tele/ furrian, just to gauge the quality of SX, I had heard good things but you never know till you have one in your hand and try it for yourself.
As I have stated in previous threads, I was truly impressed with quality of both the building and the playing of this little $ 109.00 jewel. So After I was comfortable with quality, I purchased the SX EG6 CUS BK, this guitar is amazing. It is dead quite, flawless finish, and adorned with 5ply binding on the body, 3 ply on the neck, and 4ply on the headstock. The abalone and pearl fret board inlays are beautiful and flawless. The frets were perfect right out of the box, they were dress to perfection and lay over the triple binding, best I've seen regardless of the maker. They finish this jewel with all gold hardware and tortoise shell pickguard. The sound is so 335ish that my guess is no one could tell the difference. I've played for over 50 years and owned almost every guitar made at one time or another, and I have avoided so far any comments about price because, if t his guitar cost $1000.00 it would still be a great guitar, but when you factor in that it only cost $239.00 is just mind blowing. Buy an SX or Agile and try to get the smile off you face, it takes a while. |

This is my modded sx liquid. It's a real head-turner when I use it at shows. It's also a really nice player, right out of the box.

1 SX CAR w/maple board Tele copy. I added a white pearloid pickguard.
1 SX CAR double-bound Tele copy w/maple board. 1 SX Black double-bound Tele copy w/ maple board. 1 SX 2-tone SB double-bound Tele copy w/ maple board 1 SX Sunburst Lap Steel w/ P 90 ( I got the stand for this and soft case) 1 SX Cherry 335 copy w/ stock humbuckers. I added Planet Waves Trim Lock locking tuners, Dunlop recessed staplocks and bone nut. 1 SX CAR 70's Jazz Bass stock with high mass bridge. I like these instruments very much! I also have 2 Douglas (one Red & one Amber- both with Ash burl tops-single bound) Tele copies. The Red one is stock, the Amber one has a Bill Bores P/W B bender, a maple Stew-Mac 22 fret neck and Joe Barden "Gattons". I also have an Agile Tobacco Burst semi-hollow 12 string Rick-ish copy(the guitar pictured on their home page) with 3 stock imitation "toaster top" pickups. This guitar is also dead-stock. |

I must have gotten one from a bad batch... just can't seem to get it dialed in. For some reason it just sounds bad... especially for 1st position chords. I had a bunch of parts for a p-caster I was planning to assemble and got too busy (SD Antiquity II Pup's, a 4-way Switch, and locking tuners). So I figured the Furrian would be an inexpensive shortcut. So far I've taken it to a tech who shimmed the neck to get the action decent. I installed the parts for my other p-caster, and have done the intonation a couple of times (it's dead on) It plays OK but stills sounds bad, almost like it's out of tune and even with a tuner it doesn't get much better. For a while I kept a clip on tuner on it.
I'm fairly heavy handed, I'm wondering if it's the jumbo frets and I'm pulling the strings sharp. I've got EB SS 10's on it (same as my LP), I use 11's on my Strat. This Tele has become challenge - I assembled an old Squier Affinity Tele from some old parts I had (and I mean old parts) and it plays and sounds fine. That really bummed me on the Furrian. I'm wondering if I should contact Kurt about it - I've had it about 6 months now. Just when I think it's sounding better I play one of my other gits and realize, nope, still sounds pretty bad. Open for input, ideas... at this point I'm thinking it's going to be part of a trade in on one of the new Squier VM SS Tele Basses (they look sweet). SX Furian T copy I bought in late Nov. 2011. $99 w/shipping.
DEFINITELY took a fret level/ crown. PUPS were so-so, but I waited 8 months b4 changing them. BIG DIFF!! GFS Fatbody in front, G&L ASAT Classic in rear (both used). Overall for < $200. Unbelievable sound and playability. /

My SX Furrian 3TS Twins:
![]() On the left is my Ash 3TS with the forearm bevel and belly cut. I changed the nut for a Graph Tech Black TUSQ-XL nut. The pots a CRS with CRL switch and SwitchCraft Jack. The pups are the Harpmaster Modern Tele Pickup set. Still need to do a fret level, though it plays alright without and a four way switch. The HH 3TS on the right was done by a member on another forum. It has the Alder body and he Scotch-Bright'ed the body for a satin finish. He refinished the neck, reshaped the headstock, did a fret level and installed a new nut and 500kΩ pots. I'm looking at replacing the ceramic magnets in the pups for AlNiCo II magnets. Possibly even a push-pull pot for coil splitting, if applicable with the pups.
