Old Growth Redwood Club
I figured I may as well start this and see if it peaks any interest or discussion. I've had mine now for 3 weeks and it has quickly become my main go-to electric.
Btw....Original Brown's Canyon's welcome too, however few there may be |

Thank you sir...if you saw on one of my original post I purchased one and returned it....after much thought I went back and bought the other one the dealer had..another member close to me bought the first one I owned...pics of both are on the forums. I think only about 5 or so of these were released before they went to the old growth version.

I can't help but wonder if at some point Fender may share how the serial numbers reflect the time line on these builds, and at what point did they run out of the actual trestle supply and start using their other redwood stock.

I doubt that Fender will shed any light on that but I've noticed that some Old Growths look a little different, they have a more broad grain and are a little lighter and more reddish in color. Could that indicate that the wood is from a different stock? |

I would assume that we'll see many varied grain patterns and colors. The grain width is hugely affected by the orientation of the cut, and being that this lumber is 200+ years old I would think that we'll see a lot of different hue's to the color. I suppose the different stock could play a part in this as well

As posted in other discussions, this is my OG Tele. I only have 3 pictures. I will add more in the future. This is a great looking and sounding guitar. I added a picture of one of those filled nail holes. I think that this may represent that I got wood from the Brown's Canyon bridge or maybe not.
I am a player, not a collector but having said that, I wish I could have landed one of those Brown Canyons. Its just a great story to go with the guitar. Dan |

If you want the real story on these (and I own one too) you can contact Jeff Krause at Fender (jkrause@fender.com). Jeff contacted me a couple of weeks ago and explained why my guitar is an Old Growth Tele rather than the Browns Canyon model. He was very informative and I think, truthful. I posted it on the Tele Discussion forum at that time.
