I think the reason there's a few left knocking about is because of how long it took them to come in stock. They were due in April, but mine didn't come until July...other people might not have been as patient as me. As for the price, I don't understand why guitars like this should be discounted...and consumers that expect a discount really make my blood boil! I'd be happy to leave a guitar like this on the wall of my shop for full retail price (about £2000) until someone that appreciates it for what is it is willing to part with their cash. Why flog it of at 20% discount as soon as it's out?!

When you say "my shop" are you speaking truth or hypothetically (just looking for post context, you don't need to identify yourself!)

Dealers want to shift them out as quickly as possible as it costs money to keep stuff in stock and takes up space - so they want you to buy yours from THEM, and selling it lower than RRP is one of the easiest ways to attract your attention. Not that anything sells at full RRP anyway in this part of the world!

Anyway, I agree that the delay plus the name change/wood source fiasco put a lot of people off. I *nearly* cancelled my order but I'm glad I didn't in the end - wouldn't be surprised though if lots of people did leave it for something else.

No matter the price or the name change - they clearly don't know what they're missing.

Have anyone weight your Fender Telebration Redwood yet?
I have chance to select one from three of them at store and I took the lightest one.
Then I just weight it at my home it's around 6 lb. 3 oz., and how about yours.
I think it may someone that get weight under 6 lb. :)

I run a shop in Nottinghamshire. We find that we have to discount from RRP to even get a look in, but it's still nowhere near the grossly discounted internet price that's strangling this industry. Anyway, that's a different topic altogether!

I haven't weighed mine yet, but it's so so light...and really soft, too...I'm almost too scared to take it out anywhere! I'm sad to say it already has a couple of battle scars...

Mission accomplished =)

It seems there are still a few knocking around in the US. I picked this up last week. Light (6.4 lbs) and extremely resonant. Anyone else surprised how loud these are unplugged?

Yes, very nice indeed!

I just bought one yesterday. It's being shipped today. Was in Alabama about a week ago visiting my wife who is there training on a new job. Ran into an Old Wood Tele at Art's Music. Stayed there playing all day for two days, but didn't buy it at that time. Wife bought it yesterday (guess she got tired of me talking about it ;)

This is where a catalogue would be so useful. Circle an item then casually leave it lying around, open to the appropriate page.

Hey Guys, just wanted to share some further impressions and comparison on the OGR:

I played a small gig the other night with my good buddy Tim....nice little venue that mostly hires Acoustic Talent. We both brought acoustics, but for a laugh we decided to bring our amps and Tele's and do a mostly bluesy night. He had his Am Std and I brought my OGR. We set up with the electrics and never ended up even going to the acoustics Anyways, I just wanted to say how happy I was with the overall feel and tone of the OGR. We did 3 sets and I hardly had to adjust the tuning on the fairly new set of strings....just small tweaks on the G and E from yer typical bends. I didn't use any pedals, just adjusted my gtr volume for leads vs rhythm. I really can't say enough about the overall tone of this OGR....especially compared to Tim's tele. His was actually somewhat thin sounding in comparison...especially the bridge pu. Obviously the guitar setup and amps play a big factor in those differences, not to mention our different playing styles, but the overall tonal differences were huge. I can't get over how chunky and full these sound, not to mention the sustain. It really just seems to be the perfect combination of wood and pickups, not to mention a great neck that doesn't cause any fatigue.

Anyways, I guess I'm just really happy I didn't change my mind when the whole Brown's Canyon/Old Growth name change issue occurred....These are just awesome Tele's

Cheers,
Jethro

Very envious! The band I'm in is called "Trestle" - when I heard these were coming out, I really wanted one because of the trestle bridge connection. Hang on to that one! With only 5 or so out, it has instant collectability!

Hello folks,
My Old Growth arrived yesterday.
Here are some pics (sorry my photo skill is lacking)
Note the back plate has a Redwood tree and says "Old Growth Redwood Telecaster" rather than that of the Brown's Canyon plate.
