Can you tell how many Tele-Bration models has years 1951-2011 ingraved in backplate? Brown`s Canyon and Old Growth lacks those, but probably January`s BSB has.

Hmm, good question....I know the recent Telebration Thinline shows 60th anniversary on the backplate

I'm wondering if these OG's have the Delta Tone knob??? Mine definitely seems to have an indentation point at the maximum tone setting. Anyone else here noticing that???

4th neckplate observed

Just saw link to youtube in another thread, video shows TB Modern Thinline having a neckplate with years 1951-2011, seems to be same design as on January TB model BSB.

I'm surprised that I missed that in the specs, but I just read that it does in fact have the "No Load - Delta Tone". I think on this darker/warmer sounding tele it seem to make sense....

If you must...so be it..however I have 8 guitars in total that seldom get played (i am ashamed to say) including my Suzuki Acoustic I got when I was 10.....that would be approx. 40 years ago..I am happy I didnt give it up for some cash..it may not be worth much $ wise but to me its priceless.

LOL....sounds like a similar story. I started on an old yamaha but unfortunately I don't have that one anymore. This new Old Growth puts me at 12 guitars now....I do try to play most of them but for some reason the 335 gets the most neglect. It's actually a beautiful guitar with a flame maple tobacco sunburst and 57 styled HB's. For electrics I guess I'm just more comfortable on Fenders and single coils though

After 3 weeks of playing

Now i have had time to contemplate sensibly what guitar i have got. Fender has done excellent work in choosing parts around this body of not so usual tonewood! 52 Hot Rod neck, 62 Custom pups and Am Std modern bridge are created to go together.
I have a guitar, far better and suited for my needs than i anticipated when i made my reservation at Thomann, Germany in mid-April.
My main amp today may have only one 12AX7 tube, but when i play OG Tele in VOX AC50 amp model selected, i can hear tones around 12th fret playing E, B and G strings sounding like somebody was grinding glass surface of that tube!
Not some noise, but a musical sound, happening when bending some notes in that neck area.
Surely you owners of bigger tube only amps have already heard this, and with other good guitars too!
Well, i will get my 8-tube 40 watts 12 inch monster after no longer wait than i had with Old Growth!

Some newly taken pics of redwood grain etc. may be allowed here.

I'm not quite sure what you mean with those grinding glass sounds but I'm glad you have made peace with the Old Growth. It is an exceptional guitar.

Here's a pic of mine without the pickguard, for all those who wonder what the insides look like.

Funny, I took the pickguard off mine and it also has that same router hole....I'm wondering why???

I have a friend who just got his OG Tele. He was kind of disappointed that he didn't get what he was promised. None of the bridge redwood, none of the documentation and no "vintage" cord.
This guy is a Tele and a railroad freak and Fender let him know that the broker who was responsible for selling the wood from the bridge didn't pan out.
The guitar plays OK, but he had paid for something else up front.
Does anyone else know why the bridge wood was such a problem?

are you sure that you aren't getting a bit of "fretting out" on the highest fret?

Don't have a clue. But it certainly stimulates the imagination of those who are in need of small hiding places for little somethings when crossing a border...

I cannot answer your question but I'm baffled by the statement "The guitar plays OK". I understand the disappointment because of the missing link to the railroad bridge but it still is an exceptional guitar, very lightweight, extremely resonant, great playability and lovely sounding. It has all the Tele Twang you ever need but never sounds overly harsh. If you like Teles and the look & feel of wood, this is a dream Telecaster. Your buddy just needs to forget about that railroad thing.

Regarding the missing case candy, oh well.
