The Marc Rutter's Fan Club

I wanted to start a thread for all those out there who come on here wondering who to go to for a custom cut Tele or Strat body and hardware. I'm sure a lot of you will join me in showing off your Rutter's bodies and stories of Marc's great work. As soon as I get more time tonight I will post the story that made me write this, pics to follow

For starter's this was my second time purchasing a custom body from Marc. I ordered one of his in stock bodies he lists on his website which can be cut to your specs. After about 3 weeks I shot him an email asking how it was coming along. He informed me that he had messed up the wire routing between the middle and bridge pickups ( it would have been visible above bridge, see pics). He said it could be repaired but he wanted to cut me a new body instead. It took about another three weeks but today I received in the mail not just the corrected body( which was lighter and had better grain than the one I originally purchased) but also a repaired original body. Marc never told me he was doing this, and never tried to sell it to me at a reduced price.
I sent him an email asking if this was a mistake, and did he need me to mail it back, here was his response.
"Hey Rob,

Yep I could not send out a “Dutched” body so a replacement was in order and the original was an easy fix. With such a unique PU config it would have set on the shelf for years so better with you.

Glad you like the replacement.

Thanks!"

He is one classy guy

Yeah Mark is a classy guy, I've bought two bodies from him. The first was a light Pine body (3pounds 5oz) with a P-90 route in the neck. I used this for my piney. I bought a one pickup La Cab body in pine and some of his hardware last year. The body was great, but the hardware was outstanding. I highly recomend Mark's work

That reminds me I need to buy more hardware

He's definitely an easy guy to deal with. I don't have one of his bodies, but they look great and they're priced right. Good to see that he stands behind his work.

The Marc Rutters "Rutters Cup" is the best thing to happen to the telecaster since Compensated Saddles, which Marc also makes.

I'm in!

Rutters body, chopped bridge/compensated saddles (he drilled top-loader holes and threw the steel E/A saddle in for free; I'm gonna try it out next time I change strings), ferrules, shallow jack cup (he threw the jack in for free too), and he helped me get my TVJones PU for less than half of what it would have cost to buy in Japan, (and at no extra shipping cost)!

I caught him at a super busy time (around Christmas), so there were a couple hitches, but he made it up to me in spades, and the quality is great.

That reminds me - I should see what the ETA on my build is. I'm guessing soonish, but no real hurry on my end.

Yeah, Marc does good work!

Cheers,
Geoff

Shallow Jack Cup and 'Broadcaster' knobs (this guitar has been modded further from this shot, but the Rutters parts have remained):

Chopped bridge, compensated saddles and Rutter's cup:

Marc is a great guy. I expect that my future projects will all include something or other from his shop.
