Hi, I have a C.A. Red JB mex tele autographed by the man himself 001. I bought it from Steve Ripley of the Tractors. He had James fly in to OK to record some tracks on the Tractors Fast Girl album (great cd), fender sent him 2 new mex JB teles and he had James autograph them and he sold them both, one to me. I got to talk with James by phone after I bought the guitar from Steve. The highlight of my life. He's been my idol since the Ricky Nelson days.
Sadly, I'm forced to part with this but have no idea how much to ask. It's new condition with all stickers still on it. J Dan |

Hi, I have a James Burton Tele, though it doesn't have the appearance of the above guitars. It has the two standard tele pickups (rather than three), however, has the James Burton signature on the head stock. It was made in Mexico and has the serial number MSN502505. Can anyone give me any information on this guitar? I live in Australia and believe the guitar was bought here (I bought it about a year ago). What year was it made? Were there standard James Burton Teles released? Any help/info would be appreciated.

Welcome, Tmac!
Your MIM JB is from perhaps 1995, but these MSN5 codes can be unreliable. Check the underside of the stock pickguard if you have it, or in the neck pocket. That blonde polyester body color is gone now, and your guitar can now only be found in Candy Apple Red (too bad!) like this: http://www.fender.com/products/searc...tno=0138602309 Big Boatneck section neck on that guitar; very nice! |

I've never laid hands on one of the three pickup Burton Signature Teles, although I think the gold paisley version is one sexy guitar. I'm assuming the three pickup versions with Lace pickups sound more like a Strat than a Tele, but would love to hear impressions from owners in this forum. Somewhere down the road I might get one.
Thanks in advance.

I was lucky enough to see this one for sale.
Got this about 6 months or so ago. Was owned by Steven Seagal. Signed by Eric Johnson,Skunk Baxter,Seymour Duncan and a whole pile more. Plays and sounds Great.

I've got the MIM JB standard Tele. It's candy apple red (always wanted one) with a 6 saddle vintage bridge and truss rod adjustment at the headstock. I replaced the original pickguard with a mint green mother of toilet seat one with black screws. I'm using D'Addario .010 - .046 with a wound G. This was a big improvement over the .009's that were on before. This guitar's a keeper!
