Nice! I really want to get the vintage burst one like that even though I already have the Olympic White one.

I wouldn't mind having 2 of 'em.

Currently have mine (60th anniversary sunburst) in pieces on the workbench. Swapping out the Texas Specials for CS Nocasters and new 4-way switch and control system. Also just installed the Callaham Enhanced Compensated Saddles. Can't wait to get her back together to see how she sounds!

I picked up my American Special in February 2010. Great guitar to begin with, though it's since been through a few mods. SD Seth Lover in the neck, 5-way switch, Callaham compensated saddles, new pots and cap, and Electrosocket jack.

I'll probably be swapping out the bridge pickup soon. The Texas Specials are great, but not quite my sound.

I am installing some Fender Original Vintage pickups in mine - I'm looking for a little more country twang...

I was a little worried about going with the Nocasters, because my original thought was to go with Fralins or something else in that price point. But I got a crazy good deal on the Nocasters and I couldn't be happier!

I had to resolder the control system a few times and replace a bad pot and switch (PITA)! But now she's working properly.

LESSON LEARNED: When buying an Oak Grigsby 4-way switch, buy it from someone who has modified it to work in the Tele switch slot. The first one I baught wasn't modified, and I screwed up the switch trying to get it to work and ended up having to order a new one. Acme and Callaham sell them pre-modified.

The Fender Original Vintage pickups are now in my Am. Special and now it sounds like a tele should! Great sound for $62(to my ears).

Just one question for you AST owners, what amp do you use on it? Just curious :)
Fender DRRI works well.

I just got one today. I traded a Les Paul Studio (which I never bonded with) for a 2011 American Special Tele, White. I love it. I have a few amps but only wanted to hear it from the Blues Jr today. I am so spoiled by the amazing setup I have on my Strat, that I'm bringing this new Tele to the same guys asap to have this setup.

I like the sounds and I'm impressed with the wide varieties of tones from that "greasebucket" tone controller.

Question, Do all the Fender Amer. Special teles come with jumbo frets
I played one yesterday I really liked-so much so, I went back and played it again today.-
I think I like it better than my Hwy 1. another question is why -aren't they essentially the same guitar just a different name.

Just ordered my sunburst Special today, i can't wait. I got a pretty good deal too, through a staff discount ($613 + tax). After seeing what Skoffco did with the white pickup, i have ordered one from ebay and will be copying him, i think it looks fantastic.

I've had this Amer. Sp. tele at home for a few days and I really, really like it. Tomorrow I must return it and make a decision.

Well, I've joined the club. Took it back to the store intending to return it and stew about it for a few more days/weeks but when I got there I decided, I really love this guitar, it's only slightly used and for that price, I had to get it. It's sweet!

I got my AST in Olympic White last week and I absolutely love the playability of this thing. I love the neck pickup but Im not too sold on the Tex Spec in the bridge and I'm thinking about replacing it with a humbucker. You guys have any suggestions? I've seen a couple of you guys install a lil 59 in the bridge is that just a straight swap ? Thanks guys. I swapped the pickguard too with a paisley engraved one, i'll post pic soon.

Replaced the pickguard. The neck pickup I ended up replacing with Custom Shop Texas Special Pickup(the real deal) which I bought from a friend for $20. Also replaced the control plate with a gold one, although it looks black in the picture. Replaced the saddles with Callaham compensated. I'll probably install a 4 way switch next and maybe install locking tuners. The possibilities are endless...

It's April 1st. A fairly significant day for a fool like me. Been playing my AST for a month now and I still love it. I took it to my local guitar tech for a proper set-up and now it plays even better. When I'm home, it's always in my lap. My wife is starting to demand equal time.

Sorry to raise an old thread from the dead, but I just picked one of these up today used. This guitar is a beast!! I love it! It is the white model and mine came with a black G&G hardshell case and has a Lindy Fralin in the bridge and a Seymour Duncan in the neck. Has every bit of the classic Tele bite. I can't wait to gig with this thing.
