72 RI -MIJ -Thinline

Hi,

I have a 72 Thinline Reissue; Made in Japan.

I never play it; no mods, and its in near mint condition.
Color: natural wood
S/N: Q013637

I'm considering getting rid of is and wonder if anyone could tell me what a fair asking price range might be ?

Thanks

Extremely cool guitar, especially with the Charlie Christian pu. (Was that hard to install?) The tortoiseshell pickguard looks killer against the black gloss. Four stars!

My Thinline

I got one, too--hooray for me--a MIM 69 reissue skinny-line. Paid 475, used, and it was mighty clean. It's a three-tone sunburst with white pickguard. Mods: El Torres pups, bumblebee cap, 500 CTS pots, Calahan bridge, saddles, and jackplate, Switch Craft jack, salvaged old Strat three-way pu selector, and locking tuners. I've got four electric guitars, and the skinny Tele is far and away my favorite.

Until I saw this Thinline, the only black guitar that I ever really craved was an ES335/Epi Dot....never cared for a black Tele or Strat. But your Thinline is outstanding. Makes me wish my mahogany Thinline was black as well.

Marto & tcarp: The Thinline thanks you for your praise. I didn't install the CC, so I don't know how difficult an installation it was. Looks aside, this is one of the best sounding and most versatile guitars I've ever played. I'd recommend the Lollar Special T and CC combination to anybody. Lollar also now offers a bridge version of the CC called the B.S. (don't know what that stands for) that sounds pretty good in some YouTube demos I've heard.

No ones said anything about the TONE. my MIJ 69 is a little thin on the lead pickup but I get some fantastic tone when I go to the neck pickup and roll off a bit of volume and treble. just so smooth and glassy. after adding a 5 way switch I have several in series sounds that really roar. all my friends play it and ask "how much?". no plans on selling this one anytime in the near future.

Inspired by your beautiful guitar, I've assembled a thinline partcaster similar to your

Birds-eye maple neck and mahogany body from Warmoth. Lollar Charlie Christian neck and bridge pickups (and the bridge pickup is very hot ). Wilkinson bridge (soon to be replaced by a Callaham bridge). Grover Rotomatic locking tuners. Pickguard from Pickguardian.

Very nice indeed. In fact, that guitar deserves a few more photos. One of these days I'm going to do a three pickup CC, like the one I heard/saw in a Tim Lerch You Tube demo.

Thanks csapo!

Here's a LINK to my NGD thread.

It has all the specs. Hopefully one day I'll work out how to make and post a clip?

Couldn't find a lefty '72 thinline so I'm building one

I have been watching ebay and Southern California Craigs lists for over a year looking for a lefty '72 original or a MIJ -72 Reissue. No luck so I am now building one. When I figure out how, I will post a pix showing the lefty body, etc that I am starting with. I plan to use the GFS Vintage thinline pups since the body is routed for standard HBs and the pickguard is also. Has anyone used them and how do they sound??

My quest now is to find a lefty vintage tele neck with a 10-32 tapped truss rod so I can install a Bullet nut. Any ideas or comments ???

Here's mine. Bought it new in 1998 MIM, doesn't get much use but I am sure at some point it will. I play mostly strats.

Hi guys,

I posted this on the main Telecaster Discussion Forum, any help here? thanks

"70s Tele Thinline - Vintage Vs. RI
Any of you guys played both? How do they compare?
I have a RI... not completely satisfied.... Are there any pickups that make her sound kind of the "same" but BETTER (if this makes any sense at all!)?"
