The Relic Tele Club

I checked and didn't find any thread about Relic Teles. I've decided that if I can't afford a Nocaster, I'll put together something that's close. I really liked the idea of putting a humbucker in the neck though. Let's see 'em.

Sure, this guy is a Musikraft body and neck, Don Mare bridge pickup, SD neck pickup, the switch between the knobs knowks out one coil off the humbucker. All Fender hardware with Kluson tuners.

The neck is a C to V '55 style and is perfect on this guitar. The body is lightened via chambering and removing everything behind the pickguard. Total weight is under 6lbs.

Reranch Shell Pink, Neck Amber, Tinted Clear and Clear.

Total financial outlay: $750 and way nicer a player than any Road Worn would dream to be.

Hardware and body relicing by me, nice checking throughout the body and headstock, finish removed from the back of the neck, still have to do the fretboard

I hate it when that guitar comes up!
Judging from afar this is a relic that can fool people into believing that it's a real one. Not the Allparts necked stuff that Jonathan Wilson/GVCG put out but something that was melticiously assembled by a blackguard fan using the best and correct hardware.
BTW, Peter, did you also use vintage electronics in that beauty? Just wondering...

I wondered if someone would start the inevitable 'Relic' club ! -- count me in telechaser !!

Here's my Bravewood, still my 'go to' guitar for every gig/recording since i got it i can't remember how many years ago.
This is a pic with the 'Voodoo' pick/ups in, very nice p/ups but MUCH prefer the Keystones i added after reading the Rob DiStefano review here at TDPRI.

'Don't get relics' ?, then don't buy one.

Yes, it's got a NOS 1452 CRL switch, a replica cap that Nacho produced although it's wired to use the three pick ups properly.

I played my first Bravewood recently and I was very impressed. Very well made, light and sounded great.

Nice axe John!

I'm new to the relic thing and didn't really notice this. It looks awesome. What's the neck shape on this Peter? I tried a Nocaster and I love the neck.

I'm in. Here we have a 98 SeaFoam Green 1960's Relic Telecaster. The custom shop did not nick the paint at all on this one (I have done a pretty good job of dinging it up). They only aged the hardware. It is embossed with 1 of 6 and custom shop logo. I like to believe that the idea for Closet classics came from these. This is and will be my only telecaster.

It's a BIG V-shape.

I'm not a fan of the U-shape on the Nocaster.

Here's a comparison of the neck profile compared to a Nocaster neck.

Would love to see the pics. Currently querying about relic parts. If the guy can supply it, it'll be about a quarter of the price of a custom shop model (Australian prices.) I might end up with 3 maybe even four soon I hope.

Did I say would love to see the pics already?

Here's my Blackguard Relic - great guitar to play, nice neck. The bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan Little '59 humbucker, so it gives me something a little different from my other Telecasters too!!!
