RIGHT ON! I remember you talking about this before of course. You were thinking of getting a Road Worn of this right?

Regarding the bridge, looks like a cover on the standard one to me. Also curious to see it up close.

Nice geetar,
Have you any close up pics of the bridge ?
I have not seen one like that on a Bullet before, do you know if it is original ?

Yeah I was thinking of buying the road worn when they were on sale, but I already had this on lay a way anyway. The bridge is stock, I just tossed an Ash tray bridge cover from my strat on there b/c I like the look. It just pops off

Nice to see a Bullet fanclub on the net !

Hi there !

My name is Jan and I´m from Sweden in Europe.
When I was young in the early 80´s I got an Fender Bullet from my grandma.
It is White with white pickboard rosewood neck and black pickups.

Unfortunatly I "customized the pickup plastic by grinding down the plastic that covers the pickup-coils to make it look more like strats and teles.

I still have the guitar, mostly because it reminds me of my precious grandma but I also like to keep it because I am the only one that has owned this guitar.

I am going to check out the serialnumber to see what year it was manufactured.

Get back to U.

Best regards

Jan

The pickups in the fender bullet are mustang pickups:

your choice of black or white, at 5.99 a pair, why I'd get both

Jan, cool story and so nice that you could keep the guitar all these years. Got pics to go with?

My Bullet

Hi again !

Got three pictures of my Bullet to show here.
As you can see there is no letter E before the serialnumber on the neck.
I have no idea of why there isn´t do you ?

When I overlook the guitar I clearly see that I should clean it up a bit.

I am not so comfortable in the thought of reassamble the neck to date it.

Best regards

Jan

That's a great story Jan & a very good reason to keep the guitar.
The E on the serial is one of those Fender mysteries, rumour has it that Fender had too many of the E1 serial decals made in error, so they just used them up wherever they could , so not to waste them, especially on the Bullet it seems.
You may find that your guitar is an early model, there are not many around with no E prefix.
The neck may not have a date on it, but should have the date stickers in the neck pocket. Taking the neck off is no big deal, it will go back on exactly as it came off ..... Just remove the strings & turn the guitar over, lay it on a towel or something to protect it, carefully remove the neck screws & plate & the neck should come away easily, replacement is a reverse process. The neck may have a shim in place ( a thin piece of plastic or paper ) which is a minor adjustment to the neck angle, if it has, just make sure it goes back between the neck & body at the base of the neck, it may not even fall out, if its there at all. You may need to adjust the bridge slightly after replacing the strings.
The tone & volume pots should have dates on them & this is an easier way to tell the date, see my earlier post & pics of the pot dates on one of my Bullets, there should be numbers on the pots starting with 137 then a set of 4 numbers which are the date code ie, 137 8206, 82 = 1982 & 06 = June. Of course this assumes that the pots are original & not replacements.
Let us know how you get on.

OK I´m curious too about the date of making/assembling my guitar.
When I feel that I got som time to spare I will take the neck off.
I will be back about the result.

Best Regards

Jan

I bought an Ameican made at Charleys about twenty years ago. It played great but sounded anemic. I gave it to my brother when I got my EC in '90. I think it has sat around unplayed since.

Hi !
I am back.
This is what it looked like when I´ve reassambled the neck from my guitar.
There where no stamps on the neck.

Best regards

Havnt been around for a while so want to comment back to a few of the awesome bullet posts since.

@old.boy, those are great photos, the sharpness along with the old photo feel. Nice. It is a great guitar too, of course.

@Swede, Jan, whoa cool Bullet indeed, thanks for all the photos and the neck pocket. I have not taken mine off but I have some of those stickers. It is an odd thing. I got the manual, inspection tags and all with mine and it came with these extra SN stickers. I have a bunch of em. I should take photos of all that stuff and post probably.

My practise amp is a super champ XD, got a really good deal on ebay & its mint, they are really good amps - they sound good hooked up to a 4x12 apparently, not tried it, but will hook it up to my Marshall 2x12 extension cab some time soon & let you know.

hello everyone. I was donated a Bullet Deluxe (yes, lucky me) and so i'm keeping it FOREVER. However, I want to get the best out of it. The sound is perfect, the neck is nearly there in that I have 'slow' frets. It's difficult to fully describe what I mean, as my brain has already gone to sleep (been up for 18 hours). I've had them seen to, but is there anything else I can do? It was stored in an attic for about 15 yrs and i've managed to salvage it, and get it looking really not too bad at all.
