Here is a space for Godin players. Well, they are sort of Tele shape, some more so than others. Here is my late 90's LG, Lotte, which I've owned since new. It was my main gig guitar for about seven years until I we both went into retirement. Apart from a little wear on the neck she is in new condition.
She has four SC sized humbuckers controlled with a five way switch and a push pull tone circuit on the tone pot. It has a great range of sounds from full on AC/DC style SG howl through to clean tele neck and if you have all four pick ups on a wonderful Jazz tone.
The neck feels more like an acoustic or a Gibson and the body is closer to a flat top PRS than a tele.
She is a beautiful old girl who might play second string these days but she can still cat it.

I just picked up one of these used for a steal. Mines a 2002 model with the 24fret fretboard. P90 pickups. Mahogany body with black pearl finish.

The P90 ones are the successor to my model. Same body and neck but with P90's. The head was redesigned slightly in 2001 and a truss rod cover added.

Sold my Godin, but it was a solid, well-built guitar, and it sounded killer.

Yea hes supposed to go home to AZ this weekend though. CA is worse off for jobs then almost anywhere.

$60 last night. The girl I bought it from said she bought it new 12 years ago and then never learned to play it. I don't know to believe her or not. There was absolutly no fret wear on it.
There were no strings on it and I don't believe there had been strings on it for quite a while. The neck was so back bowed it took me all last night and most of today to straighten it back out. I clamped it and wrapped it in a heating blanket and it did come back. The relief is good, the action is spot on 4/64 and the intonation is just slightly sharp on two strings. I'll give it a while in the man cave to acclimate and adjust it all again in a week.

Anyone know if these are made in the USA?

I've had a few days with my G-1000 and I have to say I'm impressed with it. Its very easy to play, lightweight and sounds good through whatever I run it into. I have the trem blocked at present because I wanted the neck to stabilize but now I'm thinking I need to set it to float. Need to pickup a whammy bar. Anyone know the threading on these?

Just got a near mint Godin Acousticaster. A couple of scratches on the back but otherwise very clean.

I'm hoping my Godins will start to breed.

Last week I sent of a pic of the serial # on the neck plate and a pic of the headstock to Godin support asking for Id of the guitar and model and its origins.
Today I received this reply from Michel at Godin:

Hi Paul,

Your guitar was built in 1995. It has a maple body and neck, a 24 3/4" scale, and Godin electronics. It was assembled in the US from parts crafted in Canada.

I'm grateful for the reply. I hesitate to believe the "maple body" part as I would assume maple to be quite heavy and this guitar is very light. My impression would be basswood but I'm no wood expert so will defer to the "horses mouth". If they say it is then it is.

This G1000 is fast becoming my favorite guitar.

I replied to Michel about the maple body in the first reply.
I also asked what the retail was when new in '95
Also about the availability of a whammy bar.

Here is the response:

Hi Paul,

Earlier G Series models have a limewood body, but the '95 G1000 has a maple body. It had a $569 (USD) list price.

We unfortunately no longer have replacement parts for G Series models.

Limewood is misleading as it probably means a type of ash tree which grows up near the arctic circle and has leaves which look like lime leaves. It's a case of European explorers looking at something and thinking 'Hey that looks like such and such there for it must be so" Like the North American Robin which has nothing in common with the European Robin apart from red plumage.

Mike, I hope I didn’t come off as demanding or putting some burden on you. I was just curious, and always like looking at pics of guitars. Sometimes pics cause GAS, at other times they alleviate it. Go figure.

So on your LG, did you go with the Cherry Burst Flame or Trans Black Flame? Are the covers for the HBs black?

I noticed your listing of the URL/link for the La Patrie Collection, but I didn’t see a mention of that guitar by you anywhere else in this thread. Is this a very recent acquisition?

No problem. I generally have a personal policy about posting photos publicly, we're a very private family, so that we don't become a target for theft, and I was waffling about posting here...even after finding the camera.

The LG is more like a dark tobacco burst so I'm not sure what the colour is named officially, and it has black chrome covers on the humbuckers. I gigged it last night as usual, lots of tones. I string it with D'Addario 10s, and play it through Traynor tube amps (YCV50blue, YCV20), with modest effects.

The LaPatrie Collection is not a new acquisition. I've got a 99 tobacco burst LG that came with the Duncan Jazz in the neck and the Custom Custom Custom in the bridge, it's a fantastic guitar.

I've also got a 03 LG P-90 in black that is a killer as well.

I want to add an LGX and Radiator to the collection as well.

A friend of mine has a couple of the artisan series, one strat style and one tele style. They are such incredible guitars for the prices they can be had for.

A friend has a LaPatrie Concert CW.


I don't own a classical at present, so I always jump at the chance to play her Concert. I wish she would string it with D'Addario hard tensions. Even so, I love playing it.

Played it yesterday afternoon, as a matter of fact, at a party she and her husband hosted. My involvement was a kind of spur of the moment thing. I asked to slip off to her studio to just play a bit, and her husband told me to bring it into the living room for all to hear. So I played and played, and people just chatted over the music, as typically happens (with me playing, anyway ).

thats one of the reasons I like mine.
Its got the tele thing and the les paul thing and certainly its own thing.

Nope just a good ol' fashioned 2004 mahogany bodied and necked LG SP90. I like it because contrary to appearances it is quite capable of many different tones and sounds. I like it.
