I'm not surprised.

Les Paul basses never really caught on. For Gibson/Epi you're much more likely to see an SG/EB bass or a Thunderbird than a Les Paul bass. Even the funky Ripper and Grabber types seem more popular than LP's.

After almost 20 years of playing guitar, I've finally relented.
This one came up at a bargain price on eBay this week! Almost half of what a new Custom is worth new here in Australia! I couldn't resist!!!

Sorry no pics of my own yet, eBay picture used.

Nice looking LP, Richard! Yes the second hand market is pretty good value at the moment in OZ.

I recently found this for a price that I was prepared to pay...

I have a 89 Standard in Ebony. Got it back in '93 or '94. Has some natural relicing and sounds great.

Here's my first one, a '76 Deluxe. I bought it in '93 for $525. I sold it almost a year ago...

...because my second one, late-'06 G0 bought in March '07, was getting all the playing time. This one weighs 8.42# and has the clearest neck-pickup sound I've ever heard from a Les Paul.

This is my Epiphone LE '57 Reissue Junior with a Jason Lollar P-90 and upgraded pots. I picked it up a couple of years ago for $150. I haven't weighed it, but I'm guessing it's around 7#.

My humble Epi, Lester.

Re-wired, some cosmetic changes, replaced bridge and stop tail with Gotoh nickel version. Got a tusq nut coming.
Got a big fat neck that's a joy to play (after I got used to it).
Sounds KILLER through my little AC4.

Here's my Epi Les Paul Junior '57 Re Issue. It's a really fine guitar, particularly since the P-100 was replaced with a P-90.

This isn't a Lester, but it's obviously inspired by. Epi Genesis Custom. It's the heaviest guitar I've ever picked up.

I have a '92 LP studio that was my first real guitar. The headstock had broken off at some point and after it was repaired it was dropped off at a pawn shop and I snatched it up for 600.00. Now, after 12 years of learning on it, it feels like home when I put it on. It needs a wicked refret, but it's still something I don't consider selling.

I'll post pics later on.

What I really want is a melody maker :D

I will say that while I don't consider selling it, I AM considering swapping out the plate and knobs like on the last page. It makes it look a billion times better!

Here is my LP BFG hanging out with his buds.... I put a cover on the truss rod cavity, HB, and the P-90, and replaced those awful wood knobs
now that I think about it I cant remember ever playing it without the P-90, man I love that P-90... excuse the mess i was in the process of moving, i have much more room now!

Melody Makers are very underrated IMHO. It's true a lot of them need a professional touch up with setting up the action and tidying up the frets...But after my luthier was done with it my MM plays like a dream. In fact I prefer its neck to my LP's.
