Yeah, that's what I was afraid of!

2009 CS SG Les Paul.

This is my second 61 RI, this is an amazing guitar all around. Very happy with this purchase.

To those of you using the Maestro's, how do they compare to a Bigsby? I really dig the look of them.

Yanked mine right off. Not as much travel as a Bigsby, fairly unstable tuning, thinned out the tone, and reduced the sustain.

It is funny how we can have such different views on the same gutiar. I agree about the bigsby and travel, but the Maestro tremelo and how I use it is just fine. Both of my Maestro's have stayed in tune every bit as good as any bigsby I have ever had. I think they help with the tone as well as sustain. Google it and you will see some people love them and others dont. Nothing new in the guitar world.

My experiences have only been with vintage units, I have never played a RI Maestro.

Got three of them.

2 Gibson SG Classics (my favorites)

1 Gibson SG 67 Special Reissue guitar of the month they did a while back (haven't even taken the plastic off the pickguard)

Soon I'll get an SG Standard and if all goes well there, I'll get a second one later on, maybe in black.

'05 Faded SG, modded with Burstbuckers, Sperzel locking tuners, Wilkinson roller bridge and a Bigsby. It was sold to make room for and finance other projects but I kept the '06 SG Robot. People bad mouth the Robots but I love mine (except the added weight), never had a problem with it.

Can't believe I haven't joined yet.

I'm in with my 2007 SG Standard. It's all stock, but I'm about to get a Les Trem for it. I prefer them over the Bigsby and Maestro even though they don't look as cool.

And here's my most recent SG. A 2009 Zoot Suit in red and blue. I don't know how popular these are, but I loved the pickups in it. I say loved because I recently sold it. It was just not as nice to play as my Standard. I also missed the bound fretboard, the dual tone controls, and found the frets and neck resulted in a little slower action than I like. But the transparent ceramic HB's sounded extra creamy. I almost kept them.

My next SG will be a TV Yellow one with P-90's even if I have to customize it.

My SG rig, before and after I installed a Vibramate + Bigsby B5

BEFORE

AFTER (couldn't quite get the colors in the photo right, but you get the idea).

I like the Vibramate for trying out a Bigsby, but it's not a long-term or permanent solution. If I stick with the Bigsby, I'll ditch the Vibramate and mount the vibrato directly on the SG's body...the way it's meant to be done.

As they say: "They only good mods are the one's that aren't reversible!"

Count me in. '92 Standard, no mods, it's actually a bit rougher 'in the flesh' than it looks in the pic. Great guitar. I used to have a black one as well, an '89 I think, it was a bit odd, small scratchplate, side mounted jack and p/u switch above the controls. When I contacted Gibson about it they said it was just a regular 'Standard', I've only seen a couple like that..........weird.

I sold My 1979 SG last year (bought another Tele!), the neck finally became too thin for my fingers. It is similar width to a Squier Afinity neck.

It was made in Kalamazoo on 9th Feb 1979, my 11th birthday !

My mate who now owns this SG has used it live on Australian TV a few times, the guitar is now famous.

This guitar was my main player for about 15yrs & a regretfull sale but I am very glad it went to a great home. IT ROCKS !!

Cheers,

My OTHER baby-

09 Raw Power SG- I covered the 57 classics, which are incredible puppies. This guitar is unsurprisingly a rhythm beast, but it's taken a while to grow on me. To think there was a time when I almost sold it...I'd never do that in a million years now.

Here is mine, a Johnson from 2004, made in Korea. It is my first SG and its a keeper. Sounds and plays really great, ok the bodyshaping is not like a Gibson SG but its ok for me.

Here's my SG: It's a Bacchus made sometime in the 90's. Plays like butter and sounds so nice. I picked up used from a local guy that had it imported from Japan. It has a Duncan Custom Custom Hand-wound in the neck and Duncan Custom in the bridge (I have the exact models written down somewhere...). It's my first real Gibson-ish guitar, I've always had a soft spot in my head for Strats but this one really grabbed me hard.

Picked it up with a Gator case for less than the cost an average Wisconsin utility bill in winter!

1970 SG_Special w P90s_

1970 SG_Special w P90s swapped out tuners for Grover's and one P90 for an SD, and the bridge swapped, many moons ago. Still have the original parts.
