Trust me your right on as far as it could easily snap of in your hands I've had it happen with a little bump on the headstock, or having it fall over while leaning up against the amp during a break. I'm talking about the Gibsons with the set necks.
Be REAL CAREFULL those model's necks bust off really easily and when it does you just stand there looking at the mess for about 5 minutes trying to figure out how it happened, getting around the fact that it actually did happen, and you're gonna' react to the situation while all the people watching you and are anxiously waiting to see how the reube/sap who just broke his guitar in half by mistake while trying to look cool is going to behave with egg all over his face...
It's even worse if you forgot to bring a backup.
One guitar you definitely need to be careful with. The Neck
Pitch & Headstock Angle on the early '60s ones in particular
is very prone. Tried to get a new Gibson SG Case for the
SG Jnr , wouldn't fit due to the Neck Pitch / Headstock Angle.
Hiscox Hard Shell Case did the trick nicely.
Read an interview with Pete Stroud where he was on stage
and looked over to see his beloved SG Jnr starting to fall
launched himself " felt like something in slow motion" toward
the guitar, grabbing it just before it hit the ground.

I still haven't made up my mind about adding pickup covers to my Faded. How easy was it to do? Did you simply just pop the covers on, or did you pot them in wax? Any difference in tone after adding the covers? Thanks.

I got one.
1999 SG Standard.
I'm actually not really a big SG fan, but this one is great and the price was right.

You have got to work on that Dave! Tell me the SG isn't crazy good through that Ghia.

My first electric guitar in the late 60s/early 70s was a cheap Sears Silvertone SG knockoff. Damn thing is probably worth a small fortune now!

To me, an SG just says "I rock!"... even when it's not making a sound!

I'm in the process of finishing up an SG parts build. Bought the body and neck on eBay, and most of the rest from GuitarFetish.com. I'll try to post some pics when it's done.

Just joined the club a few weeks ago with a faded S.G..I'm not going to change anything abought ,it it's a real "rock and roll guitar.I really like the agresive pick ups that come with the guitar.

a friend gave me his old 1977 SG a number of years ago. It was pretty beat up, but it plays great, and growls. And, stays in tune FOREVER!

Lotta people knocked the SG Jnrs for not staying in tune and
having questionable intonation. I don't know about others
but my well played one stays in tune and the intonation is
spot on. Original tuners and bridge.

Had an SG copy once. I really liked the shape and prefer it to an LP shape one. I'd like to have a MIJ; the usual suspects like Edwards, Greco, Bacchus, Tokai, etc..

A guitar collection wouldn't be complete without an SG in it. This is my 2002 '61 Reissue.

When I think of SG I think of Leroy Powell and Marc Ford. I think they are a great compliment to the Tele.

Don't know if it fits, but...........

Its not a Gibby, but the inspiration is obvious.......

2005 LTD Viper 1000. EMG's, locking tuners and bridge/tailpiece, Earvana compensated nut, flame maple top and abalone binding and fret markers.
