SX STL50/62 Owners Club
There has been a recent flurry of purchases of SX STL50's, some of it due to a recent sale at Rondo. I know I was persuaded to pull the trigger. But there are also a lot of other people who have mentioned in posts, that they too have these guitars and are very happy with them. So, who else here is a proud owner of one of these bargain beauties? I'm expecting mine to arrive in two days, (Hurry up UPS!) so I'll post pictures of mine then, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling now.

I'm in (mine's vintage white) but I don't have pics yet.
I'll work on that soon. Meanwhile, might I suggest perhaps expanding the club to make it inclusive of SX Teles in general? Many people are also happy with their STL62s (rosewood necks)! |

As I understand it, they do, indeed, ship to the UK, although shipping and VAT and such can make them double the price. I could be mistaken about any of that though... Even so, they are a steal. |

Not a 62 but......
Count me in. This is the first one I bought last summer which was a 3TS:
I really wanted an Ash because I happen to like the strat-like contours, but Rondo was out of stock at the time. Once the Ash's came in, I sold the 3TS to a friend and picked up the Ash. Just recently, another friend of mine was looking for a tele replica and bought a vintage white. The guitar was shipped directly to me for a setup and some minor mods. He's had it for a few weeks now and loves it. In fact, way more than his HWY1 Strat. I never dressed the frets on the first 3TS and my friend was getting a bit of fret buzz here and there, so it was time. This thing turned into an adventure which you can check out here: http://picasaweb.google.ca/lawrieman...Mv067DIg7L9cA# My standard mod on these guitars are EZ-Lok tuners, stainless saddles, and roller string trees which I get from GFS. If need be, I'll change the nut. I happen to like the stock pickups, so I've yet to replace any. I love the way these guitars play once they're set up properly. IMO, a fret dressing is an absolute must. Fortunately I can do it myself and save the cost but for those who can't, it would be a worthwhile investment. |

Is the neck on the ash tele's the same chunky neck as the STL50? Also, is a jigsaw sufficient to reshape the headstock? I'm GASing for one of these and can't decide between the ash and STL50. My MIM Fender's neck is way too thin and uncomfortable.

Got my STL50 in Candy Apple Red yesterday. She's my first SX, and my first Tele. She's a beauty.
I tried to capture some of the sparkle in this shot. ![]() I think I need some more light, that almost looks brown. Unfortunately I play about as well as I take pictures. ![]() I posted my impressions of the guitar in this thread:http://www.tdpri.com/forum/telecaste...-car-sale.html |

Count me in. Mine arrived today after 4 days in the back of the big brown truck. $105.96 to my door.
I had not till this point ever have seen in person one of the SX guitars. For the short time I've had with it so far I have to say I'm impressed. There is nary a finish flaw to be seen, the knobs/pots turn smoothly, the pickup switch is smooth, the tuners turn smoothly, the nut seems to be cut well and the strings are ok. Beautiful fret job, you can't feel one single end after riding a slow boat from China and traveling in the back of a UPS truck across the country. Playing it, it sounds good and feels good. I will reserve my final judgement until I've had it for some time but I have to say right now I wouldn't hesitate to say..."Can I have another, Sir?" ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have a pair of STL50s,one sunburst and one powder blue. I like the necks so much that my fenders haven't seen the light of day for months. I don't think I've heard too much negative about any of the Rondo guitars. I have my eye on a few more.

Another proud member
Here's my "frankenstien" STL50...as it's been called on here before.
GFS lil' puncher bridge on a p/p tone for series/parallel, GFS P90 neck, MIA Strat Middle on an independent volume ala Brent Mason. Wilkinson compensated saddles on stock bridge plate. GREAT GUITAR

I got mine yesterday. It's a blue STL50. I was really kind of worried that I wouldn't like it and want to send it back but I love it. The neck doesn't seem that thick to me so it must be what I'm used to and the big frets make it easier (for me) to do bar chords. The tuners are okay. The only flaws I could find are a few tiny paint chips around the neck pocket. For $124 shipped it doesn't matter.. Only things I would change about this guitar is that the neck is really orange (but bearable) and the pickguard to a white one (which I will.) I took a bunch of pics but my computer isn't recognizing my camera for some reason.
Does anyone know what gauge of strings come on them? |

I've the butterscotch SX tele and a SX Fat Strat from Rondo. Both are A1. The Tele is perfect as-is. The Fattie could use hotter pups, but they do sound good and present a nice tone.
And this will arrive tomorrow:
