Telecaster man,

It doesn't look dark on my monitor, it looks like a thing of beauty! Help an old man out, though; what is up with the two dials? Is it a master tone type configuration? I like the contrasting tuners on it - it reminds me of the Charvel San Dimas guitars that are out now. By the way, did I mention I like it very much? I like having the chance to see a Logan, Strat; truth be told, the first real guitar I was able to purchase was a pre-CBS Strat, and I have always loved them. You know, it may have gotten better in my mind over the years but if my memory serves it sounded pretty darn good in my old BandMaster. OK, I am starting to ramble. Enjoy the Strat! Let us know how she sounds.

Again, Sanford…WOW!!! Those additional pics are just great. That is one gorgeous guitar. As I’ve said before about guitars Bob has built: “Four words: BEE-YOU-TEE-FULL!”

As for stringing her with black strings, that probably would be a really unique look, provided of course you can actually find black strings and they actually sound good. If you actually do find some good black strings, I say go for it!

Thanks for the additional info. So…your “little lady” (as you call her) has a “hardtail” and a “black jack”! I dunno, Sanford…sounds both sexy and dangerous to me!

Kent Armstrong Vintage Tweed Tone pups, huh? I’ve heard of the Kent Armstrong brand, but not these specific pups. Like buzzy46 (Bob T) said, do let us know how she sounds. And as he also said, she is a thing of beauty. Congrats, bro!

k folks, got my Bill Lawrence Keystones and installed them today. BIG difference from the wilkinsons. it sounds awesome now. only one reminder for myself was to put a cloth down. accidentally got some solder on my finish and had a slight imperfection. no big deal though it was worth it.

^^Littlewing - good to see you got the Keystones. I got notice mine shipped today and I'm looking forward to hearing them again.

It takes a good eye to see that solder burn. I wouldn't worry about it!

I would love to see the pic of the strat.. I might be interested in purchasing one myself.. Please post... I would love to see if he would use the Glendale Chimemaster.. In the orange color that I have seen in this post. Please post pics...
madmark
madmark, I’ve been meaning to welcome you to our little club thread. Thanks for posting here.

And well, now that Sanford (a.k.a. telecaster man) has posted the pics Bob sent to him, what do you think?

Also, about your comments regarding “the orange color that I have seen in this post”: were you referring to Bob’s Coral Red color as seen on littlewing’s Tele and others in this thread? If so, I sure agree with you; I’d love to see a Logan Strat in that color.

Hi madmark...as soon as the Little Lady gets here i will play her a bit and then take new pics of her and then post them and tell ya'll what she is like....i am betting Bob is probably going to get one or two orders for custom strats....
and for those of you who are wondering....i single volume and tone control is simply for one reason....i have played a number of strats in my life and one thing always bugged me....the volume was in the wrong place...i always turn it off while playing....and i could never understand why two tone buttons when the tele only has one...ssssooooooooooooooo...Bob mentioned to me he likes them better with one volume and one tone...i went for it...actually he was one second ahead of me suggesting it....and i don't like the imput being on the body and Bob said he prefers them on the tele position...worked fo rme....then he showed me pics of the guitar with all white knobs and pups....didn't work...we change dto black....and as everyone seems to think....she's a thing of beauty....and she's mine.

I had Bob build a tele with a stacked humbucker in the bridge position in July 2008. I'll post pics later on.

I just wanted to say, Bob was a great guy to do business with. I drove up to his home and he met me out front with guitar in hand. I have been using the Logan custom as my primary guitar ever since. I don't plan on getting rid of it. It is that good. And I've owned several telecasters.
TCASS
Terry (TCASS), thanks for posting here. I want to welcome you to our club, both this thread and the owners’ club, although you’ve been an owner for some time now, of course.

In fact, I wanted to ask you about that. It sounds like we both got our Logan Teles around the same time. I don’t remember the exact day that I first discovered Bob via one of his eBay auctions, but it was very shortly after July the 4th last year. I opted for a custom build w/ a mahogany body, and since Bob had already been working on a mahogany body, the whole project went fast. I placed the order earlier in the month, and it was delivered to my door July 29, 2008.

And I hear ya, my mahogany is also my #1, even though I now have another Logan, a Logo Thinline. I play both of them every day. I have three acoustics that I hardly touch now, except for acoustic sets at gigs. It’s kind of sad, really, but I can’t bring myself to play my Logans less than I already do. I typically get a couple of hours of Tele time every day, on a good day more.

Truth be told, I'd much rather have the Logan Custom logo and have even thought about sending the guitar back to Bob to have his logo put on.

The specs are: Maple body finished in nitro silver sparkle, 9.5" radius neck maple/maple with a plastic nut, medium jumbo frets, Wilkinson hardware and pickups.

This is a very resonant guitar and deserves better pickups. Had I custom ordered it I would have ponied up for better pickups. It's a great player and really looks nice on stage with the silver sparkle but I've got to get a better set of pickups in there.

I'm a bit jealous of you guys with your new Logan customs. It seems as though Bob's finishing and woodworking skills have come a long way. My guitar is pretty crudely finished with LOTS of finish flaws and the woodworking is pretty rough with the body being fairly "lumpy" around the curved parts of the cutaway and top horn. I'm being picky here, it's a real nice looking guitar but could have had slightly better attention to detail. At the price I got it for, I can't complain too much though!

All that said, I play this guitar a lot. I love it, so much so, that I've thought of sending it back to Bob for a refinish, re-logo, fret end dress and to have some new pickups installed. (I can do pickups myself, but figured if I got it back in his hands it would be easier to have it all done at once.) I love that new coral red color he is using, simply stunning. And I really wish my guitar had his new logo on the headstock.

Do any of you know if Bob offers these types of services? Honestly, I didn't even know that Bob had taken his business to the next level. Even though my guitar is an earlier example of his work, and I do have some minor complaints, it's a great players axe. Feels great, plays great, sounds decent with the stock pickups, what more could your really ask for?

I'll try to snap some pics soon, mine is already starting to naturally relic.
ehren, I should think you *are* a member! It sounds to me like you were a member of the owner’s club of Logan Teles before most of us here. So welcome to our humble little club thread in this forum. Really glad to have you chime in.

It sounds like even though your Tele had some rough edges, as you say it feels great and is a great player, a player’s axe, and very resonant. That resonance is something a lot of us have noticed about our Logans as well.

As for your thoughts about sending it back to Bob for a re-finish, new logo, fret end dress and new pups, that sounds like a good idea. Does Bob offer such services? I don’t see why not. It seems I read a post in some other thread about Bob’s doing this kind of thing. I have no idea what he would charge for it, but given his price structures, I can’t imagine it being too expensive.

And just imagine what it would be like to have that old familiar axe with a Coral Red finish, newly re-worked frets, new pups and that “Logan” logo on the headstock. That great feel, its playability, but looking brand spanking new, with a hot new sound coming out of its new pups.

Boy, you’d have to do before and after pics and updates.

Wow, Sanford, thanks for that pic. She's a pretty thing, but a little "bleached out" looking (does that analogy fit here ), especially when compared to Little Lady's final form. The white control knobs against the background of the white PG makes them all but disappear. I like the way you decided to go much better, but this pic gives all Strat-interested pickers out there another look at a Logan Strat. It's like you've displayed two different Strats, which gives us more to look at, and might suit someone else's tastes better. Thanks.

Hi Larry...i agree with you completely...at first i was going to go all white and then Bob and i talked on the phone...one of us decided to try the black tuners and it worked...i asked him to go with all white pups and pots...didn't work...when i saw the outcome i phoned Bob right away and asked if it were too late to go with all black....and like the great guitar custom maker he is...and friend he is...he said nope..not too late...as a matter of fact that is why he hadn't put strings on Little Lady yet...he wanted to get my reaction to the white before he did...i am really glad he did...there were a number of different colors i could have gone with ...either all one...as what i did...or mixed them....but as everyone keeps saying....the black was definately the way to go on this one....unfortunately i probably won't get her till sometime next week...she is still in customs and it will be about 48 hours after she clears before they will deliver her to me.

Customs! BUMMER!!! It never crossed my mind that you could run into such a snag. Sorry, Sanford. The GAS (Guitar *Anticipation* Syndrome ) must be killing you. I know it would me!

You both beat me to it! I was just going to ask the same thing. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: great minds travel the same gutter, eh?

BTW, do your fingers move as quickly on the fretboard as they do your computer's keyboard?

Unfortunately, yes!

TMHB&LOL (Throwing my head back and laughing out loud)!

Clever, that. Although I could have sworn that I asked if your fingers "...move as *quickly* on the fretboard..."

Well, ultimately, of course, that is a subjective assessment. One man's "perfect" neck is another man's "thin as a matzo."

I can only make a few observations in responding to this question. Bob offers different neck profiles, with different fretboard radii. The neck on both of my Logan Teles is Modern "C" shape with a 9.5 radius. It feels quite nice to me. And a long-time Tele player and session man (and friend) who has played my mahogany commented that "It has a nice chunky neck." So take that FWIW. YMMV.

Logan twins! I LOVE it!

I don’t know that I’ll ever order a Logan Strat, but if I do, it will have the same controls as yours, i.e., one volume, one tone, positioned out of the way of what passes for “picking technique” in my playing.

And like the “twin” thing you are thinking about now, I would also specify that my Strat mirror my mahogany Tele in appearance. That would mean gold appointments, a Birdseye Maple neck & board, black guard and pups, with Bob’s Darkened Mahogany stain. I can picture it now…

Oh, wait…a Logan Tele and Logan Strat with Coral Red finish on ash bodies, white PGs and maple necks…I can picture it now…

Darn it, Sanford, now see what you did…

The wheels of bureaucracy, much like the wheels of justice, grind slow and exceeding dumb. The "derriere draggers" you described seem to thrive in such settings. Sorry their red tape means you have to wait, bro.

Bill Lawrence made a great sounding pup, I haven't heard one for about ten years or so. I know they are a fair jump beyond what you had in there, and I hope you enjoy them, as you seem to be doing by what you have written.

Are we talking about getting some sound clips together, Larry? I have no idea how to do that, but if someone works things out, I would certainly be glad to toss a little playing into the pot.

I still owe pix of the Logan Tele too....I have to get my daughter to help me out with her camera.
