Congrats! My Logan is a couple months old now and I can't put it down. Like yours, mine is the best playing tele I've ever had. I reckon Bob knows a thing or two about crafting telecasters...

Hey, guys. I’ve had a glitch in my computer system that has prevented me from accessing the Internet, so I’ve been out of touch the last couple of days. I replaced a software program that evidently was the culprit, and so I’m back.
amhabz, congratulations. I have no problem believing that your Logan is the best playing Tele you’ve ever tried. I’ve played a FMIC AV52RI at the local GC just about everytime I’m in there, and the more I play it, the more I’m convinced that my Logans are at the very least it’s equal in looks and playability. No other Tele I’ve tried rivals my Logans. Your Logan certainly is a looker, and before I ask the questions I have, I think we need another look at her. You say she weighs 7 lbs, and that back/body is American Cedar with a bookmatched spalted maple top. Is that cedar body chambered, or a Thinline with no cutout on the top, or just that light? Just wondering. My Logan Thinline is 6lbs, 12 oz. And my solidbody mahogany is 9 lbs, 2 oz. I have the Alnico V pups in my Logans as well, and I’m happy with them. Well, the lipstick neck pup in my Thinline doesn’t have all the output that I could hope for, but it’s fine for my purposes with that guitar. And I have personal reasons for leaving that guitar just the way Bob made it. boomboomba, your walnut Tele has a chambered body and weighs less than 8 lbs, right? Also, Keystone pups, as I recall. And while we’re at it, let’s have another look at your guitar, too (feel free to post more pics).

BTW, in addition to getting back into playing out at an open mic Friday nights and Saturday night gigs, starting this Friday afternoon I will be joining an acquaintance from one of my Saturday gigs playing at a nursing home here. I’ve played nursing homes before, but it’s been a few years. Looking forward to getting back into it.

Hello all...as you all know by now...Bob is building me a new guitar...this one will be totally different from anything you have seen so far....Bob is emailing me pics of it as he builds so we can be part of the experience....and i am telling you....it is amazing....Bob puts so much love and care to his creations and so much of himself into them....i don't know about y'all but when i play a Logan guitar or bass...i feel as know a little about Bob because of the experience.....it's like a part of him comes with the guitar.
there are no words to describe the respect i have for this man.....GOD BLESS YOU MY BROTHER |

"...a darker more mellow tone" you say? Hmmm...I would have expected a brighter tone, what with the maple and the cedar. But then again if I understood you correctly you were comparing to a Jazzmaster, and I've never played one, so experientially I don't have the same point of reference.

Hi All ,
I have just gotten back into playing a bit , only after 30 years. was looking to pick up an american tele , got sticker shock when I started looking ,I checked out this board and have followed for a while , checked out Bob's web site and ebay feedback and so on. I am far from an expert but I know what I like , just placed an order with Bob , he got right back to me an answered all my emails quickly. He will be sending me pics of the project in build , I am very happy with his responses and cant wait for the finished guitar. Here are the specs , swamp ash body contoured body birdseye maple neck amber tint , maple fretboard Bill Lawrence keystone pups dark blue black 3 ply pickguard wilkinson bridge chrome appointments electro socket/switchkraft |

Beautiful, bet it sounds great.
Always wanted a tele when I was young, but had a Mosrite instead, so now that I'm old I finally got one. Funny everyone else back in the 60's wanted a strat, except me. |

When I was stationed in England, ran out of money and babyfood at the same time. Had to sell it. Always missed it and surely cannot afford to buy one. My jazzmaster however is very simular in play and tone. I had that tone in my head for 40 years and been trying to duplicate ever since. BTW mine was a pre-venture model, had it before they discovered them.

Man, was I ever tempted this afternoon. Got an email update from eBay letting me know that Bob had some Teles on auction that would be up before the evening was over. I checked them out, and just was wowed by one with a cedar body with black edging, maple neck and fretboard with a custom amber tint. All the specs were just how I like ‘em, and it was just a knockout. Take a look at this beauty.
Whoever got this baby got a GREAT deal. I do hope that person will find his or her way to this club thread. I’d love to hear more and see more about that guitar.

I couldn’t tell from the pics much about the body contours. I thought I could see a forearm rest on the lower bout, and maybe a belly cut. Is that right? Thanks for sharing. Please give us updates when she’s finally in your hands.

Hi Herb and Larry, We call it Veteren's Day South of the border. As a Vietnam vet, it is sad for a few reasons for me. And Happy Birthday Larry! Mine is friday the 13th, 63 this year. My name by the way is Andy.

Boy, there is a lot going on here, a lot I want to respond to. As Sanford (telecaster man) has pointed out, today is my birthday, my 56th. So far, I treated myself to sleeping late (woke up a little before 10 AM), and then got involved in a writing project. My wife Beth is going to take me to lunch in a few minutes, so I thought I'd check in on this thread before I got out. Don't have time to respond right now to everything here, but maybe when I get back from lunch. Thanks for the birthday wishes.

I want to talk about November 11th, not because it’s my birthday, but because it’s in my opinion an important day.
Significant events in history have taken place on November 11. As significant as these and other events may be, for nearly a century now the focal point of this day has been to honor veterans of the world wars. Depending on where you live, today is known as Veterans Day, Armistice Day or Remembrance Day. The signing of the armistice that ended the hostilities of World War I (on the Western front, at least) came at 11 AM on November 11, 1918 (“the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month”). It is celebrated as Armistice Day in France to this day, though the name has changed in many other countries. In British Commonwealth countries, it is known—as Sanford (telecaster man) called it—Remembrance Day. BTW, Sanford, do y’all also call it Poppy Day? Do you do the poppy on the left lapel thing? As an American holiday, November 11th was first proclaimed Armistice Day by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919. Though the day was celebrated unofficially for years, the formal/legal process of resolutions, proclamations and such took to create a federal holiday took nearly 20 more years, when it was finally made a legal holiday known by the name Armistice Day. The US of A celebrated just four of these official Armistice Days before joining WWII. After WWII, specifically, the year I was born (1953), Al King, a store owner in Emporia, Kansas, started a movement for his town to celebrate Armistice Day as a day to honor all vets, not just WWI vets. The local Chamber of Commerce got on board with the idea, and that November 11th was celebrated as “All Veterans Day.” Then US Representative Ed Rees, also from Emporia, helped push a bill through Congress that President Eisenhower signed into law on May 26, 1954. Congress amended the act on November 9, 1954, officially renaming the holiday Veterans Day. The old name lingered for a while in America. Even though I was just a year old when the name changed, I heard reference to “Armistice Day” throughout my childhood, as did my wife Beth (born September 10, 1954). Given the focus of November 11th, I guess it should come as no surprise that I am sentimental about veterans and the debt we owe to our armed forces. I have great respect and admiration for those that serve or have served, and I wish to say “Thank you” to all vets (and all soldiers currently serving) for your dedication and sacrifice.

Happy Birthday Larry! Appreciate your good work getting the word out on Bob's teles. Your comments help sell me on one a few months ago now and I still get a smile everyday playing my walnut Logan.

Yeah, that second round of pics definitely showcased the body contours, not to mention the wood grain of the body. Beautiful guitar! Back when I first joined the TDPRI, before I knew anything about Bob, I was GASing over an FMIC Deluxe Blackout Tele. ![]() The dark body, black PG, and contrasting chrome appointments and maple neck really caught my eye. But seeing pics of your Logan, I like that even more. That same study in contrasts, nice color, beautiful wood grains and figuring, and best of all, it's a Logan!
