Yes glad to see you back and hear everything is ok with you. In my early 20's I played guitar in bands and switched to bass when I realized my limitations. I still play bass in my other band. I found it's not like riding a bicycle. I have been working hard for the last 6 months trying to recover some basic skills on the 6 string. After 20 plus years it's been brutal. In "Jersey" I have a very talented player named Joe Hill carrying the guitar load and the plan is for me to just focus on the singing and add a little guitar as I can. I play the Logan almost non stop at home. I really enjoy trying to play again. The bass never gets out of the case between gigs now. In reality my vocal has always been my ticket to getting in bands anyway. The guys in the band are all very talented (although the bass player is just returning to playing after years off too) so for now the Logan is a prop on many songs but i am adding strumming when I can. Trying to remember all the words to these songs is hard enough. The band is doing great and we've played some of the best outdoor gigs in our area already to thousands of people. Hopefully by next summer I'll be able to contribute more with the Logan. Like Clint Eastwood said " a man's got to know his limitations"

Sorry I've been so busy and preoccupied lately. I've wanted to post this news before now, but better late than never, I guess. Okay, here it is...drum roll, please...

Bob Logan is now making bound Teles! Here is a Rosewood Bound Logan Custom Tele. Cedar body, ribbon mahogany back. Total weight 7.4 lbs. CTS pots, .022 poly cap electro socket with switchkraft input jack 5 way switch: (1) neck; (2) neck and bridge; (3) bridge; (4) neck and bridge 1/2 out of phase; and (5) neck with 10% less low end.

Wow, that's a gorgeous guitar. Love the binding! Is that yours Larry or does Bob have it for sale?

I've been way too busy playing my new walnut Logan to have posted here with my own photos. I was really lucky with USPS shipping to Canada; Bob mailed it Monday morning and I was unwrapping it on the Friday the same week.

It is the most well setup guitar I've ever played. Hats off to Bob for getting all the little details exactly right.

I am humming and hawing about whether or not to put a matching walnut neck / ebony fingerboard on it.

But that bound rosewood Logan looks fantastic. I'm pretty sure I could find room for a second Logan tele. Yes, I know I could!

Yes, it is indeed a gorgeous guitar, and no (sadly) it is not mine. Bob sent me the pics of it when it was in process and after it was completed. I haven't been to Bob's website in a couple of days, so I don't know if it is listed there, but to my knowledge, Bob has this bound rosewood Tele for sale. And my wife would probably breathe a sigh of relief if you snap it up and remove the temptation from me. And of course, if it has been sold, you can always commission Bob to make you a bound Tele to your own specifications.

I agree with you about Bob's setups. As most everyone in this thread knows, I have two Logans of my own, plus I have purchased Logan Thinlines for my son and my son-in-law (and of course I've had the privilege of playing them). And I can say that of all four Logans I've had my hands on, Bob got the details right. All four have great setups and finishes, and are players.

Hold on to your socks, guys. Bob's sent me pics and specs of another bound Logan Tele, and this one's double bound. It has a cedar body with mahogany bookmatched veneers and cream binding. Also, Rosewood fretboard, vintage old style tuners, 5-way switching and Keystone pups. Bob says it weighs less than 7.5 lbs.

Here are some pics, and let the drooling begin!

I'm loving these new bound Logans. I doubt he'll have that one long before it gets snatched up (wish it was me!) Fantastic guitars and seriously good value for money.

Oooh thats perty, v tempting. I think it might be too pretty for me.....can't see me allowing a scratch or any other physical contact....not something I'm worried about on my other guitars, especially my blonde nitro Logan (wearing nicely)!

A bit "O" Gush

I know the "regular members" and "other builders" may get upset, but I simply must gush a bit.
I am sitting here playing my cherry L custom guitar and I absolutely love it. The heft, the look, the sound. Its all great. The Wilkinson Bridge Pickup and the SD mini hum are super. The tuners BL uses keep their tune and the finish wears very well. Here is my L Custom with me and my Happy Tele Face

nice

I can't wait to get the BL Eyersquire home, because I know that it will be a Stupendous Instrument here it is

this says it all for me

With apologies to the regular members and other builders. This was not a commercial but a good old fashioned GUSH. Love Ya' BL
P.S there is room for everybody. I like the other brands and builders too. I just feel very satisfied with BL's work and can't wait to add more BL's to the stable. One of the great things about custom builders like BL and some of the others here on TDPRI,is unlike the corporate brands, Normal working folks like most of us,can actually talk to the builder and get a true "custom shop" experience. Without being a rock star or Bill Gates favorite Nephew. I like that.

Wow, I must admit, the bound tele caught my eye. I'm not in need of a guitar as I've been thinning the herd all year long, but I can see myself getting rid of some more to get the bound Logan tele. Larry, do you have any idea of the price range on the bound tele? My wife would have a fit if I brought any more into the house, but if I get rid of some, she'd not even know! I may have to sell my 72 thinline reissue.....I like it a lot, but this may be a better choice. Hmmmm, the weekend contemplation begins

Bob's got this one on his webpage http://logancustoms.blogspot.com/ for $950. Kills me I don't have the coin right now to just buy it, but the money's gone since I bought another of his guitars earlier this month.

Terry, I sat in with some friends of mine at their gig tonight, so I was late getting home. Consequently, I read your query and member boomboomba's reply at the same time. I had meant to post about Bob's gallery guitars, but boomboomba beat me to it.

(BTW, boomboomba, how do you wish to be addressed in discussions here, mon ami? By your user name "boomboomba"? That seems a bit awkward to me, but I'll go with that, if that's what you want.)

So, yes, Terry, the double bound Logan is listed there on Bob's website. I don't know about the bound Rosewood one. I didn't see it among Bob's gallery guitars, but I don't think that necessarily means that it's already sold. I guess you would need to ask Bob about it.

Hey guys, thanks. I also saw that Bob has it for sale on the Milwaukee Craigslist site.

I guess I have another thing I'll have to wish for. When it comes to guitars, I think the most I ever spent was for my Logan. I usually come across guitars that are used but excellent condition and I get a great deal on them...So I buy and sell a lot. I realize that with a Logan I am not purchasing it to make a profit. That wouldn't be my goal. I plan on keeping it until I'm gone.

The bound tele (either one) looked so good, it just grabbed me. So, I think it's something I'll save for down the line. I'm sure my wife has other ideas for my money!

I think I like the bound guitar with cedar better as far as looks....Well, I hope Bob continues with the bound teles. I'd love to see a few other finishes. I already have a tele copy in red with white binding. I have always leaned toward a natural finish versus a paint job.

My Logan is a natural finish as well as my Fender thinline tele and my Warmoth tele...But I'm also wanting a Fender Toronado in a butterscotch color! So many choices, not enough funds!

I brought my Logan to my band's practice the other day. I hadn't played it in a while. Wow, it has so many ranges of sound (it has a stacked humbucker and a 5 position switch). It just blows away my other telecasters. I almost forgot why I liked it to begin with! For my next gig, I'll definitely play my Logan. I haven't done it yet.

I thought of Sanford (telecaster man) when you first brought up the natural finish aspect, and of course he chimed in on that point.

As for something in a Butterscotch color, I definitely relate to that. There are several color choices that I would make if money were no object. I think a lot of us can relate to your lament "So many choices, not enough funds!"

From natural finish consistently to...purple?!? I didn't see that coming, Sanford! I can't quite picture that. How purple are we talking here? Barney the dinosaur? Minnesota Vikings? What fretboard will you choose with that? Pickguard?

You'll have to play that Barney "I love you,You love me" song for your daughter when you play the purple Logan. Will you name the Git "Barney"?

Got the email with the pics, Sanford, thanks. To me that's like grape bubble gum purple. It's kinda pretty, but I'd never go that way with one of my guitars.

Robert, I think you're on to something with the "Barney" Tele idea.

As for the Barney character, my youngest daughter (now 31) used to hate Barney before she had kids of her own. She had a poster in her room displaying her feelings on the subject.

The left frame of the poster pictured Barney wearing a suicide bomber's vest, and the caption read simply "Barney."

The right frame of the poster showed the moment after the bomb was detonated, and all that was left was pieces of purple everywhere. And the caption read...drum roll, please...

"Barney Rubble!"

I want to thank all the posters. I found this thread and reading your posts help me make up my mind. Even though I've talked to Bob in the past, I was hesitant. Now I have a Logan Custom on the way. Great customer service! I'll post whole story when it comes.

You're quite welcome, amhabz. Glad to have you in the Logan Custom Guitars Club, both in this thread and among the number of Logan owners. We'll certainly look forward to hearing the whole story, (hopefully) seeing pics and reading your review.

My daughter likes Barney too...NOW. Back then, well, that poster pretty much said it all. The difference of course is that now that girl is not a teenager still living at home, but a married woman and mother of four, her children ranging in age from 8 (his birthday's today, as a matter of fact) to 3. So all four of them at one time (and the youngest even now, I suppose) listened to and enjoyed Barney, and as a mom she appreciated messages of relational affirmation and good manners.

She probably still hates that song, though. I know I do!

anyway....the guitar's been ordered...with the few differences i wanted....
Larry...my friend....you will have a kitten when you see her....and i wouldn't insult the guitar by calling her "Barney"...."YYYYYUUUUCCCCHHHHTTTT"

OK here is the story. I bought the spalted maple, modified "you can't sell a tele or fender will sue you" tele on E-Bay. Bob called the next day and asked if he can change out the Pickups because the ceramic's would have been too harsh for the type of music I play. Good thing he knows this stuff, I agreed. Then the day after he calls and says that he can't sell me that guitar because as he was changing the pu's he found a small crack in the body. So he will make me another one, which he did. Don't have it yet but he sent pics of it. He could have easily sent the first one and I probably would never had known, but he couldn't. This my new friends, is great customer service and pride in his workmanship.

Good on yer,

My Logan with SD5-2's has knocked my LP and Strat into the cupboard or onto the back-up guitar stand on stage. Couldn't be happier. Love it.

Hope yours is as good as mine.

What a great story! It doesn't surprise me at all to hear how Bob dealt honestly with you, but I sure am pleased that you've shared that with us.

And what a pretty guitar. It appears to me that it is a Logan with a spalted maple top and perhaps a cedar back. I'd love to hear some more specs. Amhabz? Bob?

Anyway, thanks again for sharing.
