It's actually a very nice Tele. The body is a Warmoth, with a Seymour Duncan 59 paf humbucker in the neck and a Joe Barden - Danny Gatton blade humbucker in the bridge. It also has a coil tap switch to get the single coil sound. The tuners are black mini Grovers. So that is what puzzles me the most. If someone spent all the time, money and effort on the materials, why would they leave a 'repaired' neck on it. And if it is truly a repaired neck, it certainly doesn't have any problems. The player wouldn't even know it by playing it. This will be the last time I will mention it. I don't want to take up space in the Logan forum on this....Thanks Larry for responding. I may contact Bob via email. |

As for my gigging review of my Logan, well... I chickened out. I have been a Gibson Guy for nearly 30 years and just am not yet used to the Tele. I don't know about you guys, but every once in a while before a show, I get a real nervous feeling in my gut. This was a big show for us and when it came time to strap on the Logan, I just didn't have the courage to. Nothing AT ALL against the guitar, I love it. I am just a slave to my comfort zone sometime and have a hard time breaking out of it. Since I don't have any real content to offer here, I give you this pic of me taken after we played:

I was looking over the pictures of the guitar and I have a theory; for what it's worth. It looks to me as if the neck was originally done in the finish you see on the crown and heel. The playing section of the neck seems to have been refinished, perhaps sanded or nitro finished for playability. It is difficult to determine for sure, but my guess is that the more yellow finish I see in the photos is a more sticky (lacquer) finish. As for the make, that is almost impossible given the photos. If you would like a "shot in the dark" I would guess that it is a Japanese Fender neck, but that "made in Japan" or crafted in Japan" normally found on the heel of the neck is not there, making me even more unsure. At any rate, I am fairly sure that it is not a repair. That looks a lot more like masking tape to me than evidence of a repair, that's for sure. Enjoy it! Sincerely, BobT |

Gvonpaul,
I laughed when I read your post, because I have often felt the same way about a guitar, and there is nothing like a live gig to make you want to go with your "Old Faithful". For my money, a well broken in Les Paul has a very wide comfort zone to be a slave to, as you so aptly put it. I'll tell you one thing; there is nothing like a Telecaster on the boil to rattle your fillings - and "tattle tale" on your mistakes. A Paul or 335 is a much more forgiving guitar. My Logan and I are best friends now; I would play it anywhere. You will feel the same way to; I promise. Bobt |

As far as the neck, the guy I traded with stated the body and neck were both Warmoth. Unfortunately, a Fender Telecaster decal is pasted on the headstock. It looks ok, but it is obvious that it is a decal on top of the finish. Thanks again, Terry Last edited by TCASS; July 31st, 2009 at 08:01 PM. Reason: Correcting Text |

I sanded down the 'line' with a very fine sandpaper and the 'line' went away. I am using amber shellac on the spot I sanded and it matches the rest of the neck. So, you were correct in your assumption. DONE/Verified! Thanks! |

OK Terry!
Now that you proved to yourself that all is well, you can go ahead and enjoy it without the worry. The guitar looks great and I am sure you will do great with it. Warmoth makes great stuff, so no worries there. I never had a Butterscotch Tele, but I love them. I am kind of jealous! |

Don't worry, Mr. Logan, it's just around the corner. I wouldn't really consider anyone else. I am going to put you to work next time; now that I have seen the great work you do for everyone else I have been a bit jealous for a "killer" Logan of my own. Talk to you soon! Bob Thomas |

As for your staying in your LP comfort zone, I can understand that. The first gig I played with my first Logan (the solid body mahogany with the P-90 neck pup) was very shortly after I got her, but I only debuted her for 3-4 songs. Just wasn’t used to her yet.

Yo Larry,
My network support guys are wizards; they can take care of your PC while we grab a quick lunch. The only problem is that you will have to hitch a ride to Philadelphia, but the offer stands! Bobt |

Well, thanks, Bob. Seeing as how I took my computer in to the shop yesterday and I have yet to hear a word from them, your offer may wind up being the faster of the two options, maybe even the cheapest, road trip to Philadelphia notwithstanding!

Bob has finished my son's Thinline, did the job in just two weeks. My computer is *still* in the shop, and so I am working from my wife's computer while she's grocery shopping. So I won't try to upload pics now. I will be posting the pics Bob has sent me after I get my own computer back.

Okay, I’ve finally got my computer back, so here’s the low down on my son’s guitar.
The body is a “Logo” Thinline with South American Cedar veneers, natural tint. The neck and fretboard is Birdseye Maple with a light amber tint, 22 medium jumbo frets, Modern C shape, 9.5 radius. The appointments are chrome, with the Wilkinson vintage style bridge and Wilkinson Alnico 5 pups, standard 3-way switching, and the tortoise 3-ply pickguard. Since I’ve been working lately on Beth’s computer, I don’t know if Bob sent a notice about its being shipped out, but hopefully it’ll be here by the middle of next week. Here are some of the pics Bob sent of the finished product. FWIW, I think she’s a beauty. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well, it seems I jumped the gun a bit in saying that my son's guitar would arrive by the middle of this week. Bob wasn't saying he was expecting her to *arrive* early this week; he said he was planning on *shipping out* the guitar early this week. He explained that he can build or assemble the guitar shortly after the finish is applied and buffed, but that it takes a good week for the finish to set. He also said that it has been very humid up there in Delafield, Wisconsin and that has slowed up the drying process. So my son's Logan Tele will be shipped out tomorrow. I will of course post more about her when that beautiful Tele arrives.

My son's Logan arrived yesterday morning. This is the first chance I've had to post about it here. FedEx came before 9AM, and we were just set to leave town to go visit our youngest daughter and her family (including son-in-law Chris, the owner of a Coral Red "Logo" Thinline featured earlier in this thread) in San Antonio.
Of course, when the guitar arrived, I first *had* to I played that beautfiul Tele more when we got home (after midnight), and after getting together with my son this afternoon, Beth and I were able to present the guitar to him, and after checking her over, he plugged her in to my Bandit 65 played a bit. He just went home a little while ago, and Beth is fixing supper, so I thought I'd post a quick note. I've already supplied the pics Bob Logan sent to me (see post #778 above), but I'll post one or two more later (after dinner and a movie).

Well this place has been kinda dead so I'll post a link to my bands first "big" outdoor concert so you can see the Logan on stage. Not really playing it much but it's a darn nice prop. I did put Nocaster pups on it and yanked the Lace Sensors. Logan right up front center stage.

I'm very happy to join the club. Just bought Bob's natural black walnut tele! Less than 8 lbs, chambered body, keystone pups.
Sweet! Now just have to endure the sleepless nights until it gets delivered. |

Good idea! At least mine isn't coming by UPS, that would be a nightmare. I've shipped plenty from the states so I know how long it can take. The more you want it, the longer it takes. Every time.

Wow! It's been like 3 weeks since I've posted to a TDPRI thread. I've been out of it health-wise (nothing too serious) and I've taken on the responsibility of my 13 year old grandson's home schooling, so I've been kinda preoccupied.
I last talked about my son and his new Logan 'Logo' Thinline and how he first played it here at my house through my Bandit 65. I said I'd post more pics, and yes that was like 3 weeks ago, but better late than never I guess. Here is a pic of that initial tryout through my Bandit 65. You can see the amp in the background, and my own Logan Custom Alder 'Logo' Thinline to the right of the amp. Sorry the quality of this photo isn't great (it was taken by my wife with her cell phone). That is his youngest daughter (my youngest grandchild) Emma at his feet.

Who are the band members? The info provided gave some names but did not identify band members by the instruments they play. One of the videos had someone introducing you and the guy on sax (Dave and Andy?), but what about the rest? Who's the lead player on that other fine looking Tele?

And congratulations, nice axe. Hopefully you have it in hand by now. To me waiting for a Logan to arrive is the other form of GAS that we speak of on the TDPRI: "Guitar Anticipation Syndrome!" And telechaser, speaking of a Rosewood Tele, I too noticed the one Bob has up on eBay. Tempting, huh?

![]() So "Big Red" is on the auction block, Chris? She's so beautiful I don't know how you can bear to part with her. Hopefully you won't have seller's remorse down the road. I searched for the auction on eBay to no avail. Has she sold already?

By the way Larry. Welcome back and I hope you are well. It sold about 1:30 Pacific time Sunday the 6th . I wish I could have afforded it. I am still working with BL on the Eyersquire though so I couldn't play to the end for "Big Red". Chris' red git is certainly a beauty. The winner is a lucky so an so indeed. "Big Red" is continuing proof of BL's superb git finishing skills.
