Thanks guys!!! This is just what I needed(like I need another hole in my head). I just pulled the trigger on one of these.....trying to figure out how to explain this one to the wife when UPS shows up next week.

I have them shipped to work and sneak them into the house. I pull it out and she asks and I say I've had this for years. She still hasn't seen all my guitars and has no clue how many I have. New amps are returns after loaning to friends...

My ex was like that...I couldn't buy anything. When we divorced, she took everything I had before marriage and everything after. Broke or destroyed 98% of what I got back which wasn't much.
Was a good reason to buy all the stuff I wanted again and this time exactly what I wanted without compromise.

The new wife is one of those foreign models that isn't americanized...yet!

I just can't believe how nice this new Squire CV plays...my Highway One must be getting jealous.

Skipping over the other aspects of that comment, humorous as it is, i'll just say that the behavior you are objecting to is not the exclusive domain of American wives, and some cultures it is much much worse.

Everytime I read a review on the CV posted here it takes me one step closer to ordering one of my own.

Just for laughs, and since I've got the club gathered: I've heard a lot of people saying that it's worth more than 300. If you had to put a number on it, how much would you say it "should" or "could" be worth?

I'm happy for you all :-)

Id say its every bit as good as any of the $700 MIM Classic series with better fretwork and finish.

So id say its quality would equal a $600-800 guitar

Tell the honest truth, Mark - you're being conservative so as not to scare anyone off!

I said that it is every bit as good as any of my $1000 Teles and I stand by it.

I sold the last USA made Tele I owned in 1997 a 52ri. When the 50's Classic MIM's came out in 1998 I got one of those they were only $500 new then and since then have only purchased MIM and MIJ/CIJ Fenders.

Now that I get this Crafted in China one thats better fit and finish then the MIM's and less that 1/2 the price of a new one its a whole new ball of wax.

I'm not going to put a price on it, but I will say that it's a lot more lively than any of the '52 Reissue Teles I've ever tried out.

When I first got mine I didnt notice any draamatic vibrations or livelyness but the more I play it the more resonance Im feeling.

Seems like the A and D strings really get the body to vibrate.

maybe its because my only electric before this was an LP, but I noticed the resonance right away and love it. seems rougher in a good way when I strum those open G chords or any barre chords. Im really liking the tele!

no i have to resist the urge to buy another and esquire it!

I just don't get the desire to rip the neck pup out... buy hey, go for it!

I'm going to get another one and put a humbucker in the neck position.

My next plans are to get one of the Classic Vine Strats and maybe a BASS too.

Im hoping the sales of the CV 50's Tele will be good enough that they will make a 60's version too with alder body threaded steel saddles and bridge pickup with staggard poles and rosewood fretboard with the same low wide frets the 50's CV has.

If they do that its all over I'll go sell blood to be able to afford one if I have to! LOL

From your mouth to God's ears! I would go nuts for a 60's version. I suppose asking for double binding would just be greedy.

OK, just answered one of my questions. We are selling them here in oz: http://www.venuemusic.com.au/Products.asp?ProdID=7471

However, at $699 (AUD) which is about $699 USD these days, it's not really a cheaper alternative to a MIM tele. I paid $740 AUD for my MIM Tele... I'll wait til they hit ebay before I consider buying one from the states or something. How much are you all paying for yours???

LOL - there are at LEAST ten relatively current threads about this guitar, but since you asked:

I have since replaced the pickguard with 1-ply white and it looks awesome.

Pine is a "soft" wood. Unlike ash and maple (which is what they make baseball bats out of!!!) alder mohogony etc. Those are considered hard woods. I personally would never use pine for any part of a guitar, but hey, to each is own. And to answer your question, yes, it will dent and ding easier than a hard wood.

Yep. My bridge pickup died on me. When I brought it back to the store to return it I came across an Epi ES-175 with Gibson 57 Classic pickups and a bone nut for a good price. Being as I don't have a jazz box at the moment (usually I do have one on hand) and 2 Teles already and a very limited budget (as in one or the other, not both) I bailed on the CV and went for the 175.

Sorry guys. I'm having to quit the club for now. Getting another CV in the not too distant future is in the plans because I think they are still the best damn thing out there in terms of value for your dollar. An amazing value. I'm still feeling uncertain I did the right thing because that CV was such a beauty. But there ya go!

I will officially strike my name from the club roster but will definitely join again in the near future.

No offense, but Leo did it and I'll take my cues from him!

That is exactly what i thought too. Then i got this guitar. Now i think otherwise. Plus, i am not sure this will dent all that easy anyway. Seems (superficially at least) sturdier than Basswood.

YMMV (a.k.a. what do i know?)

I got mine a week and a half ago purchased from MF, but went on vacation so couldn't get my serial# posted until now. It's an awesome guitar! The first thing I did when I got home was play it for an hour....then the wife made me go unpack the car. :)
